Emperor's Children 7th Company HORUS HERESY

Recommended Posts

The fall of the Emperor's Children has always gripped me the most out of all of the legions to fall to chaos, they were once perfection and devolved into debauchery and sadism. They flew too close to the sun and they paid the price dearly for their pride, plus I love the colour purple...
Welcome to my little corner of the internet, I'm hoping that by creating a WIP for this project it will spurn me on to complete it and so without further delay:

The Emperor's Children 7th Company
I have been hard at work deciding a final colour scheme for the army and it became a close call between doing a pristine and well looked after style of armour or whether to go donw the route of the chipped and weathered armour. In the end I chose the weathered look as I personally prefer it as it allows for more creative control as well as the ability to add some very nice effets.

These are the first of many and have acted as my test marines for the project. (front view)

I've tried to do something different with the backs of the iron armour by painting the lower armour a flat iron with the armour plating being purple. (back view)

Please tell me your opinions and feel free to give constructive criticism, more will be coming soon!

Never seen them looking so weathered and dare I say it.. dirty ! biggrin.png Great looking models and goes very heavily away from the bright shiny polished look I've seen elsewhere.

Hey infyrana thanks for checking out my WIP and I'm really glad you like them biggrin.png I'm trying to go for a unique look to them that isn't the normal bright colours. There'll be cataphractii and a praetor coming soon so stay tuned tongue.png

Personally, I think the purple looks too dark.

Hey Nephilim I really appreciate the comment, I tried a brighter purple but nothing worked out for me confused.gif I personally tried to use a darker purple than usual not only because I'm happier with the result but also because it gives them a unique look compared to the brighter armies out there. Either way cheers for the feedback biggrin.png

Your EC are really dark but I'm not sure how much of that is from lack of light in your pics. If you don't have good lighting for photos (and I know how annoying that can be), try it when you have some decent daylight sp the colours pic up better. Also, paint your bases as that can help the mini look better. Dark minis usually benefit from a light coloured base but try not to use a colour which may distract from the model itself.

Other than that... Welcome to the Emperor's Children. I do hope you are following Fulgrim and not staying with that corpse and his blinded followers. As one once said, "I have such sights to show you." Surely Slaanesh had a hand in that somewhere.

That and the Kakophoni minis are great and I'm sure there's more twisted stuff to come with the next HH book.

Ok here is the standard marines with better light, you can see the purple a lot better:

NOW ON TO THE NEW STUFF woot.gif

Here's my Praetor, I used the masters of the chapter boxed set to grab a few good bodies and then decided on this fellow due to the winged symbol on his shoulder. The head is the normal plumed head from the MKIV command and the arm is a normal MKIV arm bent and repositioned using hot water. I wanted an unsual blade and so decided on a dark eldar power weapon so that it would fit with the fluff of the EC using alien weapons if they were of fine enough quality.

And now for something to wet your appetite, the sergeant of one of my cataphractii squads:

To me, these have the look and feel of loyalists.  They are great because they are unique in their scheme, darker grittier than Emperor's Children typically seen.  I suspect that they would get just as dirty as the next marine and so I feel this looks good!

Thanks I'm glad you like them laugh.png That was my idea behind them as well as they'll fix their armour up off of the battlefield but mid combat they'll get hammered just like any other legion.

I'm actually considering redoing the praetor using the new command kits out on FW, I'm thinking that I'll go for the MKII so I can mix some MKIV in with it. I want these to be traitors but the problem is that I need to mix in more chaos which I'll be doing in the future, it'll be subtle though so that the older marines blend in with the corrupted ones.
