Modelling Hand of Darkness

Hi Guys, (Posted in Chaos subforum as well, but hoping to get as many replies as possible)

 

Looking to make a Black Legion Terminator lord with the Hand of Darkness. The only thing I could think of was a massive claw I had lying around. Problem is I think he ends up looking a bit too much like the despoiler (Probably not helped by using the FW Abaddon model as a base).

 

So any suggestions? I kinda like it as it stands, but I'm open to anything.

Also I don't know what else to arm him with. I was going to replace the combi-bolter with the HoD, leaving the power weapon to give him an additional attack, but that leaes him with no ranged attack, and further reinforces the Despoiler theme.

Uh I can only make a suggestion but maybe take the size down and Maybe make over laying fingers so maybe more bionic or go the other way and make it more organic I haven't a clue to the other weapon :)

First of all, pictures of different angles (like the other side of the fist) would help a lot.  Secondly, I don't think it's bad that it looks despoiler-y because Abaddon used the hand of darkness in the 12th black crusade before giving it to Mortarion.

 

Okay, fluff aside for now.  Cables leading to some kind of built in generator to power the entropic power the fist has would be a good idea.  The weapon is AP1, armorbane, fleshbane and instant death if memory serves right?  Why not model chainsaw mittens like Tyberos has or put a drill in the palm or something crazy?  The hand of darkness is some crazy elaborate archeotech weapon that gave abbaddon enough stopping power to claw through super star fortresses and hijack them-- think about what he would need for that job and let your imagination run wild!

I appreciate the response fellas. I've lost the claw and given him a power axe as his other weapon (the HoD only gives you a single attack, so the power axe would be helpful cutting down regular infantry).

What I don't think it is is a powerfist, or anything as big as one. If I remember correctly, the first times it was mentioned was during the Eye of Terror/Gothic War era, when Abaddon used it to somehow unlock the Blackstone Fortresses, and it was never portrayed as a weapon, more like a strange artefact that could be used as a key.

It could even look like a little box or casket, like the boxes the Dark Eldar use for for their bound daemon stuff and psycher essences.

Bingo, it's not a weapon, per se, but a tool that can be used as a weapon. But its rules could easily represent one of many weird wonders of the universe.

Personally, I always imagined it as a totem, like the Ibraesil craftworld rune.

I just need an appropriate item for him to be holding out now. Suggestions would be most appreciated
