The Rose Princes
So saw this at a tournament this weekend... there was a CSM player using Cypher as his second HQ got set up against a DIY Marine player using Cypher as a third HQ. Aside from the fluff aspect, if one Cypher loses his last wound while within D6" of the other Cypher, does Cypher count as a Dark Angels model to capture Cypher and gain the bonus 3 victory points? Rev. Tiberius Jackhammer
Well, for game purposes, a Dark Angel is a unit from the Dark Angels codex, right? So, RAW, no. The Rose Princes
With that line of thought, Tyrannic War Vets don't count as Space Marines and Deathleaper Assassin Brood don't count as Tyranids. Weird, but acceptable. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286658-cypher-vs-cypher/#findComment-3590676 Share on other sites
IndigoJack
Since Cypher isn't a unit in C:DA nor are DA even able to field him, I would say he is most certainly not a Dark Angel Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286658-cypher-vs-cypher/#findComment-3590687 Share on other sites
Retaliation
With that line of thought, Tyrannic War Vets don't count as Space Marines and Deathleaper Assassin Brood don't count as Tyranids. Weird, but acceptable. In a formation cypher is a chaos space marine. When taken as part of an army cypher counts as a unit from that codex. So if he was taken as part of a dark angels force (not aformation, which counts as a CSM ally) THEN he would count as a dark angels unit. Cooincidentally DA happens to be the only human army that can't take cypher ! Toomanyprojects
I'd say as all of the fluff goes against it then no. Cypher is the most hated fallen, so it seems rather unlikely that he would count as a DA. BUT, it does actually seem in character for him to defeat another fallen that is posing as him and then leave a trail so that the unforgiving could find the imitator :) taunt or assist? No one knows :) In all seriousness, it does seem like the sort of thing that is best agreed before the game. Maybe a roll off 1-3 no, 4-6 yes? Chaplain Lucifer
And the funny thing is that OP's question is in the wrong place since we can't field him thus having the least rules knowledge about the subject. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286658-cypher-vs-cypher/#findComment-3590782 Share on other sites
twopounder
Cypher can't count as a Dark Angel. If he did, then ANY time he is removed, he's within 6" of a Dark Angel... lol.
