Legion Invasion Force

Oh and for whatever reason, they are not on the New Stuffs page, they're on the Bundles page which can be found here.

And some Myrmidon Destructors since they're out too.

The interesting thing I can see here is that the individual Legion Strike Forces has a mix of "Legion" style armour, and "Regular" style armour. I'm guessing Forgeworld are selling much more of the Legion style packs than the regular ones, and are looking for a way to get rid of older stock that's sitting around in a warehouse somewhere.

I bought the older style of Mark II - VI armour as part of the Badab War books (pre-HH), and the newer Legion packs were much better. The poses and detail were much better, and the design for the how the models were created was much improved (I remember the backpacks of the older Mark armours being horrendous to clean due to the location of the resin channels). Plus the Legion style had much more variation, as evident in the MkIV bundle - compare the two sets and you'll see the earlier one was very similar (two leg poses, everything else identical), and the latter Legion set has a lot more variation in all the armour pieces in style and pose. Give the packs are the same price, there's no reason why I wouldn't buy the Legion packs.

Now the Legion Invasion force looks very good, no non-Legion sets of armour with a split between MkIII and MkIV (personal favourites), new command squad models and a little discount too. Just get some legion pads and away you go.

Nicely put together forces I think, only spoilt for me by the lack of command kits on the strike forces.

At least I cannot see anything that wouldn't be used, no sub-par weapon mixes of random special weapons that are never used!  That in itself is a great thing.  The Invasion force simply needs your choice of two packs of heavy weapons for a nice finish.

Forget the heresy, these actually look like a good way for anyone starting marines of any kind to start, giving you the basics/core of a force in one dscounted bundle.
If I didn't already have my Salamanders this would be very tempting, still is if I can find someone to split it with.
GW Could learn alot from FW.

FYI the invasion force

12x Marine sets - 12x £23 = £276

6x sets of bolters - 6x £11 = £66

2x command (std and centurion) - 2x £25 = £50

2x command upgrade sets - 2x £9 = £18

Praetor set - £30.50

Apothecaries - £20.50

Total - £451 (saving £61) I think.

Plus free delivery!

Remember the 'bolter marines' are used for special weapons and some heavy weapons. Even needing to buy more weapons might work out cheaper

NB (my cat has just developed a resin habit of her own. Just tried chewing on a chainsword and then to remove a marine's head).

If it wasn't for my burgeoning airsoft hobby I would jump on that Invasion Force like a mouse in willy wonka's chocolate factory...

They look great and with the big one hitting a saving of £60+ AND free shipping (got to be worth another £30-40) means it's likely about 1/3rd off!! :O

I think I'll grab a Mk IV bundle...I think...

...is it just me that thinks that if FW would sell plastic instead of resin they would be the worlds best selling miniatures company? smile.png

If you mean metal, yes.
