Hellrender
Hey, Since most are getting their knight already (i still have to wait /cry), i was wondering if we could compile some info on them. 1) Are the legs easy to reconfigure? Or do you need additional supplies? 2) What sizes of magnets do you need for arms, wrist and waist? 3) Would you magnetise them to the base? (i was thinking due to their size, might be easier to transport). Cheers, and hopefully we can gather all this in one thread, so its of use for all. Nusquam
The waist doesn't need a magnet, just a bit of sprue if you look in the latest WD or my WIP thread I show how to articulate the waist I learned from the WD issue as well as how to redo the pistons and feet poses. I used a galeforce9 pinning kit and green stuff. If you look in JeffTibbetts WIP thread you can see how he cut the knees. The arms are already detachable and articulated. As for the weapons themselves I saw a video where the cannons weren't glued on and could just sort of "fit" on the main weapon body and swap. Though person said he was going to magnetize anyway. I really dislike the base size, it's also the only thing I dislike about the kit. Its awkwardly long and narrow. They could have used the normal oval base if they posed the legs together just a little bit more but nooooo haha. I'm probably going to pin it and play a few games to see what orientation I want the base to be. JeffTibbetts
I am going to be tackling a lot of this, albeit slowly. So is Nusquam. I'm sure there will be others. I hear there are some conversions on Dakka already. I think the jury's still out, man. I have every intention of magnetizing everything I can (because I'm stupid about them, and also for transport). You CAN do the sprue trick on the waist but that means the model will always be full height. If you plan to lay it down to transport, cool. I am probably going to make mine in magnetized sub assemblies so I can pack it in foam. I am working on the legs now (link in the sig if you want a look) and honestly they could be harder. They're not EASY to repose, but the way the kit is set up def makes it possible to do. I plan to cut both knees and probably a couple toes on one foot at least. The cables and tubes will be the trickiest bit there. The arms look very posable with right off the sprue, so I'm not expecting a hard time there except maybe the magnets on the guns. Honestly that looks like it may be a tough nut to crack if you want to keep them distinctive. If you just want to swap the barrels, that looks simple but I don't want fuel cans on a battle cannon. Sorry. As I magnetize, I'll do my best to record what I'm using and why. I may well need more. I think the waist will require at least two or three sets arranged around. I was thinking about doing that anyway so it would 'snap' into the correct positioning. I think I will be cutting the top off the waist's ball and socket joint so I can add some leaning. I have a dreadnought that has a magnet arranged like that and it worked well. This one is a lot heavier, so I'm not yet sure how's it's going to work.
