It’s one of the skulls from the vents on the old metal Daemon Prince, which is a good size for the Deredeo body. I have added a bionic eye, and as per Dragonlovers idea I will add the Helbrute crown/cowling type thing. I will add a load of wires and cabling to the head running off down the back before I add the Helbrute bit first however, just have to wait for it to cure first! It’s hard to see, but it has a nice set of sharp teeth too :devil:

 

I also don’t know whether I will add a lens to the bare eye socket or leave it empty, I kind of like the idea of it empty I think.

 

Also note, the spare part remaining from the vent of the Prince also has an exposed spine running along it, I guess it would be rude not to use that too :D

Thanks for the comments and continued interest guys :tu: Little, tiny update to the head today whilst I keep my hobby fires stoked. I had hoped to add the Helbrute cowl, but it appears that I don’t own one and my Chaos loving bro has lost his spares!! So I have ordered a trio of them to see which is the best fit off fleabay. So for now, just some GS piping -

@ Jim - thanks buddy, glad you like. I too am fond of the action shots the most. The whole point to building and painting is to conquer the galaxy at 28mm scale!

 

@ Horrible - yes, you at right I think, but I will not let it beat me, even if I steal ALL of Dragonlovers ideas ;)

 

@ Dude - the spine will indeed go on the back, in between the ammo hoppers with sufficient green stuff musculature. You are right, there are not many about at all and this one will be Hellforged to :cuss: !!

Damn, I was hoping to steal all your ideas! Head looks good, if I can't sculpt details fine enough onto the regular head I'm considering one from the Raptor kit, but I'm worried it'll be too small...

I hear what you are saying with the trim, though possibly the Raptor head may be too small, the only way to find out would be to dry fit one. I did try sculpting on my Contemptor head, though only basic it turned out alright so may be worth a go?

That is literally a thin ‘V’ shape across the eye brow area, then I randomly cut in with my sculpting tool dragging them to points and added the micro bead to jazz it up. Turned out pretty well even with my basic skills, and the other detail hides it. You could even add horns to it?

 

It is this haphazard way I am going to do the trim on my Deredeo :tu:

I would have liked to have vowed my Deredeo, but he is nowhere near ready and is turning out to be quite a big project!! Here is where he is at so far -

Started some green stuff trim - which took ages - and the ‘crown’ is actually two Helbrute cowling thingies together. Quite happy where he is headed so far but my lack of quality hobby time means slow progress, as ever!

 

I must add a public thank you to our resident Khorne Lord, Biohazard, as he has drop podded in a great many bitz to help with both of these projects. Thanks man! :tu:

I know what you are saying about the knees, but (so far) I like them as they lend a nice bit of Chaos brutality to him. I am hoping to add some suitable spikes to the hip area which should bring them in line. Maybe.

Bane looks awesome, I really enjoy the vibe that comes with his mace/sword + fist setup, though the rest is looking great too! The Deredeo's gorgeous aswell, I'm really excited to see him done! May I suggest ammunition belts for the heavy bolters, or replacing the autocannon muzzles with the ones from the Chaos Predator?

Dang, that Chaos Lord is truly spectacular -- even moreso due to the huge selection of optional weaponry. What a beast!

 

I also like what you are doing with the Deredeo, but I have to agree with ElDuderino about the kneepads, at least to a degree: I think you should go for a more asymmetrical design, that is keep one skull pad and swap the other one with something else. One of the skull faces is great, but two right next to each other just seem a bit too overpowering, if you ask me ;)

There's something cool about a khorne lord with a mace. Not very good for taking skulls but the spikes might be good for the blood part at least:)

 

You really aced the pose and the cape looks perfect.

 

Concerning what kraut said, I think there's something to be said about asymmetry in general when it comes to chaos. I have a hard time seeing forges massproducing armor panels with the same leering demonic face on it for instance, I always figured those things were more. This might be a bit of a tangent though:)

Ahaha I’ve been waiting to see this :) The Lord is a complete beast mate, looks brilliant, that mace is a really good fit. :tu:

 

The Deredeo is looking really good as well, I think the issue with the knee pads is more to do with the fact that they’re unprimed and the rest of the models so dark. I like them though can’t wait to see this progress.

I am especially pleased with the Lord, though in fairness it has taken me long enough to finish the build :D Really happy with the mace/fist combo especially, looks plenty brutal. Also note, I have shortened the extra lengthy middle finger on the powerfist - he can’t flick the bird as well but it looks much betterer imho!

 

@ Kraut, ElDuderino and Bio - on the subject of the knees, I myself am unsure. On the one hand I like the brutality it gives the silhouette, it almost makes it look a totally different model; but on the other hand the asymmetrical style is something I am going for (I have to with my sculpting!) so have tried this -

Removed the left one to give keep it balanced as it has the Daemonic face on the shin and the tentacles under the rib cage area. My plan for the knee Daemons is to paint them gold. What do you think? I am really torn. If I went with this I would go with an Eye of Horus on the knee.

 

On the subject of the weapons, I am not against the barrel change using the dragon styled ones, but the belts for the heavy bolters are a no go as the mags would be too difficult to remove without damage. A shame as that would look good! The Autocannons will get some sort of treatment to mirror the Butcher Cannons, which I did purchase for the conversion but they are far smaller.

 

PS - please ignore the broken Autocannon barrel, he had an accident with the stairs last night.....much too my dismay :angry:

 

@Shovellovin and Pearson - glad you liking the Fell Reaver, as I have put a lot of effort into him. He is my Warband leader after all :) I have a metric ton of fluff too for when he is finished!!

I think I like the asymmetrical version better, and I love the idea with the Eye of Horus on the kneepad! One small suggestion: I think you may want to do something to bulk out that kneepad a bit, in order to make it fit the size of the one with the skull a bit better -- maybe you could add some kind of trim around the outer edge of the pad, or some spikes?

 

The Helbrute skull-face grafted to the shin armour is  a lovely touch! :)

Thanks for your continued support Eldrick and Kraut, I am glad you approve, real life dictates hobby time is few and far between. I did take your advise Kraut on the Eye of Horus and bulking up the knee pad, though it is not very clear on the above photo but I liked it for dramatic effect and it does hide my clumpy greenstuff fu somewhat ;)

^^ There is a spine hidden in there! My usual messy style, there will be a few tidy ups as we go but still loads to do. I tried to make the Butcher array similar to the Decimator Butcher cannon silhouette, hence the blades at the end of the barrel (I did try some big ones similar to the Fecimator but they didn’t look right at all!)

 

Anyways, he is certainly getting there now :devil:

 

@ Dragon and Bio - I will be sure to check in on your Deredeos, it’s a vastly underrated Dread and we rarely see Hellforged ones :tu:
