@Grand master...haha cheers mate...just remember, these buggers shoot back!

@The Hydra...cheers again for the comments..and regarding the deredeo...might sound strange, but its a lot smaller in the "resin"..as in the body section is not half as long as the pictures portray. ...oh and you would deffo want to add the missle launcher otherwise you would end up with a big hole in the top.

It occurred to me the other day that with 20 odd years in the hobby..I have never painted an Ultramarine! And going back over the heresy weekender pics...looks like nice models are coming there way...

Anyhoo...wanted to try some new minitaire paints so thought this would be a gd time to have a bash at a smurf (not that I condone smurf bashing).

Probably darker than what I was hoping...but this was base coated by brush over a black undercoat...would prob do it next time airbrushed over a light grey primer.

Only about 2 hours start to finish (not including drying times)...prob change the face plate to gold aswell..but hey ho..

Thanks for looking guy's!

great work as usual on the dread .hopefully all that rusting in the rain will play hell with his lascannon shots (not that our respective lascannon shots have ever done anything but fart in a hurricanebiggrin.png )

and oooh smurfs although i wish you would stick to one army and get one finished!!!!!!!! the idea of smurfbashing does send a warm tingle down my spine(insert evil chuckle MWWHAAA HAA HAAA )

@Fire golem...thanks mate...the blue was....lagoon blue painted over black undercoat...then a simple line highlight of werewof grey...the shading was done with thinned enamel but nuln oil would work...both the paints were "minitaire".....and have you changed your avatar again! Im sure your alpharius haha

@Dantioch...many thanks mate...hmmm would love to do an ultras 30k army..will try and form my thoughts below haha..

@Schultzhoffen...if i remember, the weathering was terracotta and dark brown...just sponged on...then powder for lower greaves..thanks for your reply..much appreciated..

@DC...where you been! And whats happened to the True Word?? Thanks again for your reply...hmmm an army of ultras vs your Word Bearers..now that would be interesting...

@The Hydra...thanks for commenting mate..future project hmmmmm

Here goes... I need an army...its that simple..2 years i have been trying to paint one..my mind is fraying now haha..

I think i can mange it with the iron warriors, but 30k ultras are cool...and praetor pattern armour..and have you seen the peek of robot girlyman!

But then its back to starting from the beginning, and what of the iron warriors? I can only get the time for painting one army. Would have to find a buyer for the Iron Warriors and i loathe ebay...and then theres the poor World Eaters i have lying around...

More thinking is needed haha

Thanks for reading my rambling :-)

How about another suggestion, keep the Iron Warriors but theme the army, so far you have a lot of Termis and Contemptors. Stick to that, Pride of The Legion, build a core, and when you get that arm feeling I side and you want to paint a good guy, work on an Ultra. Then once you have a small elite force of Iron Warriors, switch and concentrate on the Ultra's, maybe focus on a more infantry heavy list, and when you feel all dead inside, paint another few Iron Warriors. That way you could paint two distinct forces.

I'm thinking of doing the same, working mostly on Night Lords, but every so often breaking out a loyalist, probally one that's won't get covered for a while, just to do something different.

@The Hydra...thanks for the reply mate...very good idea you have there..I think I might have to change my ideas of just one army..maybe that way madness lies...hmmmm now its opened up possibilities. ..

The other idea would be to have a mixed legion force, forgoing special rules for a more visual army...

Thanks again...

Talking of iron Warriors though...have the day off work so thought it was a good idea to get cracking on another contemptor....wont be finished in time for the end of febs casual comp...but hope to get some points for it for march...

Here's "old rust bucket"

Thanks for looking and replying guys

Haha, it looks like the 4th legion needs to learn how to properly stow their Contemptors when not on active duty. He looks like he was left out in the acid rain for far too long.

Its odd that he's so dirty, yet so pretty at the same time. Great work!
