Dark Angels Legion "wings" - what are they?

So after reading Unremembered Empire, Dan Abnett (supposedly behest of Alan Bligh, writer of the HH books) tells us that there are 6 distinct wings within the Dark Angels Legion.

Here are some I remember:

-Ironwing

-Dreadwing

-Ravenwing

-Deathwing

-Stormwing?

So what are these different divisions and what do they represent or specialize in 30k? The Fallen don't exist so note that Ravenwing and Deathwing have different purpose.

Please speculate or help me to understand what we know so far about these circles before we see the Dark Angel Legion book.

Each wing was a legion battalion formation, specialising in or made up of, similar unit types to wage war in a certain style.

The unit types were designed to support each other.

I don't believe at this point that FW have clearly stated what each of the six wings are.

Players/fans however are guessing what each could include, based off the wing names.

Here is a thread which has some speculation about each one:

Strange enough, I posted an Ironwing related post in the HH section today:

I'm sure in time we will get answers. So is it 1 year to go? 18months? Til the DA HH book comes out?

There was no mention of Ironwing in any HH book so far (as far as I can tell).

The "Wings" mentioned were: Deathwing (crossed swords badge), Dreadwing (Hourglass badge) and Stormwing (no mention of the badge specifics but certainly mentioned there was one). It was also mentioned that there were 6 in total and the Raven's wing has been mentioned in the "Call of the Lion" by Gav Thorpe.

So there are two "Wings" unaccounted for. Could one of them be Ironwing? Possibly... But no explicit mention is made so far. It could be the case that Ironwing is just an honourary way to describe an ad-hoc concentration of DA tanks or indeed a part of an internal Legion organization.

About Stormwing it was mentioned that there was an assault squad of them carrying boarding shields and were mentioned in the context of void battle... Will that be an area of specialty for them? Dunno...

Also it is unclear if the "wings" are standalone units within the Legion or groups that stand outside proper Legion organization that train specialists within the normal Legion organization - like the Eldar aspects (Lion forgive me)... So you could have a Legion Chapter that has (potentially) elements from all "Wings" as well as troops that don't belong in any "Wing". Or maybe all DAs belong to one "wing" or another and the Chapters are amalgamations of all six "Wings"

There is certainly a lot to be explored there - I think BL will shed some light on these issues in 2014...

Yeah I'm going to take a guess and assume that 2014 will be a bit of a DA year in HH/BL books.  They've really taken a detour through the heavy Ultramarine plots who, by all intents and circumstances were absent from a lot of major events of the heresy.  So it would make sense in their GW way to milk every storyline other than the Seige of Terra.  I think we'll be getting some more specifics about the Thramas Crusade and once and for all a hard account of what exactly happened on Caliban.  We've seen the Raven Guard, Iron Hands, and Salamanders beat up on, Ultramarines beseiged by Word Bearers in their own system, the Ad Mech civil war, White Scars infighting, Blood Angel red thirst woes, etc.

While we're pretty lucky to have 2 books specifically dedicated to our chapter, I feel they came out at a really weird time in the series, almost before their time -- I remember them being disliked because they were so out of place with the rest.  We went from finishing Fulgrim, to travelling back hundreds of years to a pre-imperial Caliban? No wonder people didn't like DoA.  So now I feel is as good a time as ever for BL to revisit the strife and intrigue of the Dark Angels.

I prefer them much more to the current 40k canon, those I feel aren't written as actual stories but as vessels to sell the game.  I remember reading Purging of Kadillus and rolling my eyes at the gratuitous use of combat squads.  Trials of Azrael was also really dumb also but of course was sure to mention Lion's Roar once or twice.
