Greetings to you all! I have for many a year been plucking away in the WIP thread, but as most of the things I put there are actually finished by the time I post, I thought it a bit more apt to have a thread here as well - and as there is not far from though to action, thus it is done now. The aim of this thread is for me to post pictures of the various B&C permissable armies that I usually work on and the units belonging to them, which I finish. Currently, I have the following armies in my possession: Dark Angels (1st, 2nd and Battle Company) - about 5000 points total Chaos Space Marines (Death Guard, World Eaters, Black Legion & Fallen Angels) - about 4500 points Chaos Daemons (Tzeentch, Nurgle & Khorne) - about 3000 points Imperial Guard allies (Death Korps of Krieg) - about 400 points Grey Knight allies - about 400 points Tyranids - about 8000 points As you can see, there is plenty of potential for varied things to be shown and displayed here - and I look forward to sharing with you all. So as previously mentioned in my other Thread, A friend very easily convinced me to make a 1000pt 10th edition army, with the upcoming release of the Dark Angles and my Love of the Ravenwing I set out to do something incredibly dumb, Will this army function competitively? No idea, Will it function at all? Heck if know, Will it make my friends face palm Harder that Picard? Absolutely! So, here's a list I'm messing with. The concept I'm starting with is to have a Ravenwing Outrider for Obsec Bike Squads and Ezekial to cast Engulfing Fear on things, and I went from there. Naturally, this requires 2 detachments, so my second detachment is a Patrol with Azrael as the warlord, with the bonus CP he gives offsetting the loss from not having my Warlord in the Ravenwing Outrider. Well my Ravenwing is back to its old shenanigans. Now with Crusade rules. Talonmaster Tornado Squadron 1 - 3 AC, 2 HB, 1 MM Tornado Squadron 2 - 3 AC, 2 HB, 1 MM Typhoon Squadron - 3 TML, 3 HB 50 power. I haven't picked up the new points book yet, so I don't know the current points. First game was against Tau. He said it was a Farsight faction. Coldstar Commander + Drone 1 Breacher Team - 10 + Big Drone 1 Pathfinder Team - 10 w/ 3 Rail Rifles 3 Broadsides Hammerhead Tidewall - Shieldline & Defense Platform It was nice to see the shield wall in action, I think it is such a cool feature of the Tau to have a relatively large amount of terrain for a non-imperial army. And their terrain actually moves and is useful to the army. It was also nice to see at Tau army that wasn't 3 Commanders, an F-Ton of Drones, and the minimum amount of Fire Warriors to make the army legal. His Coldstar was in kept in Reserves, everything else deployed, the Pathfinders in the Defense Platform. I deployed everything. I went first. Wiped his Broadsides out, had enough shots left over to damage the Hammerhead. His turn, the hammer head kills a speeder from the first Tornado squadron. Second Turn, the Hammerhead and Breacher team are destroyed. His turn, the Coldstar comes in, he does some damage with both units but not enough to kill a speeder. Third Turn, Coldstar dies, and destroyed the Shieldline, the unit with the damaged speeder flew off to work on the objective. His turn, the speeder unit he damaged in the previous turn is now out of range, so the little damage he is able to do is to full health speeders, and not enough to see one off. Fourth turn, the Defense Platform and the Pathfinder Team are killed. Fifth Turn, the damaged speeder unit completes the mission and I win on VP. THOUGHTS - I think he should have put both infantry units in the Tidewall, since they are treated as embarked on an open-topped transport, they can shoot me, but I can't shoot them until I destroy the Tidewall. The mission was I had to leave his side of the table and he had to leave mine. Units that fly and vehicles require 2 turns to complete the action, everything else can do it in one. So both of his infantry units could do it in 1 turn, but his commander and everything I had required 2 turns. His commander was the only unit that got close, but he also parked his commander next to my Typhoon Squadron. I think if he booked it up the board with his Tidewall and used everything else to run defense. He could have made it difficult for me to deal with everything pushing forward together. Also with the Tidewall advancing every turn, 2 units of Breachers would have made more sense than the pathfinders, because with assault weapons he could still be shooting. The only rule I remembered to use was JINK. I completely forgot to use any of my other rules, including doctrines turn 1. So I went home and made a cheat sheet, for Game 2.

This is a bit of lore speculation in regards to the Ravenwing, and hopefully will encourage some discussion. As we know, they are a fully mounted company, and prosecute campaigns on bikes, speeders, aircraft etc, but at the end of the day they are still Space Marines, experienced ones at that. It’s perfectly reasonable to expect that when they do apprehend a Fallen target, they sometimes will fight on foot to capture them in certain circumstances Let’s say for example the Fallen is holed up in a bunker, they would have to dismount for the final stages before they capture them, and this is where I feel Vanguard Marines could come in, they would be an ideal fit in the Ravenwing for when a dismount is the only option. Perhaps it could be some sort of Primaris bikers in Phobos armour - the greaves on Phobos armour are definitely more bike friendly. I’d love to see some sort of Primaris biker in Phobos armour. In fact I’m half tempted to paint my DA Vanguard Infiltrators as Ravenwing rather than Greenwing colours, if nothing else they look really good in Black. Lore wise I know it would be a while before Primaris are trusted with the Ravenwing secrets, but as tgere are now Primaris being slowly accepted into the inner circle, it’s a possibility Thoughts?

A lot of folks are looking at Deathwing only, full time transhuman etc, but I'm thinking Ravenwing is a Sleeper army. I came up with a first pass - I like the two Jetfighters as a distration buzzing in the back of the brain, plus two Avenger bolters get pretty important given the model count. Big Bike Squad, Big Bike Squad, Signature unit of one Sammael, Talonmaster, 5 Black Knights, and 3 Chapter Command for the surgical strikes, a Darkshroud and two Vengerance for flank/harassment, plus the above mentioned Jetfighters for annoyance. Its only 1990, instead of closer to 2K. But I like it, the big Jinking Bike squads are likely to get ignored in favor of the Elite Character+Bike Cannonball - which also Jinks. Then there's the three speeders who I suspect even more likely to get ignored - or draw more attention than they should because they look like soft targets. But everything that's moving Jinks. Now that you don't have to leave Devastator, they can all get away with the 4++ Jink and still shoot.

Ever since what was it 5th? That had the Ravenwing Outrider Squad or whatever with 6 bikes, an attack bike and a speeder? I've been trying to keep a Double Wing army going - Raven + Death - as I have UM for most of the Green Wing and don't want to double that up with only so much time to paint and play. With the MFM drops it just got easier, I had about 300-400 points to add back in after the last time I looked at it. Each half of the army is about half - Each one gets two Counts-As Troops, and one-ish "Elite" Unit (the Black Knights and the DW Knights) - each gets a Cap/LT duo with some chapter command. I really wanted to give the DW half a vehicle/toy, but they all teleport, while the Dreads don't. Between the Wing rules, and the standard bearer, the only Bike/Terminator unlikely to get ObSec are the Knights. Without going full one Wing or the other I end up low on ranged (anti-tank) firepower. I know a lot of people are ooh'ing and ahh'ing at the Deathwing right now, but I think a Full Ravenwing army is a Sleeper.
