Trodding through the Blood

Guys, I had an idea for a project for basing my HQ model but have no idea how to properly mix water effects with certain paints without changing it's composition and make it look like my Chaos Lord is striding through 6 inches of blood and gore. The gore I have down but I'm very worried that if I use Citidel paints it'll have some horrid after effect, i.e. flaking, different shade of red, etc.

Have you thought about using the new blood technical paint from GW?  It's basically a built in water effect/gore/blood.

Yeah, but it's $25 for a bottle the size of those Elmer's PVA glue we normally used in grade school. I could get more for less by going 3rd party.

Use normal water effects + dye for the bottom, cover the top layer with the GW stuff?  Gives you volume and quality.  Just a thought, I haven't tried it!

One of my friends had a similar idea for his Khorne Berzerkers, he wound up using these and these. I'm pretty sure he filled them with a mix of water effects and red ink, it makes for a very intimidating army.
