Original Q: Were the Alpha Legion at the Siege AKA How do I base them? So, going with rule of cool over everything, my Blood Angels are SoT themed, and have rubble/muck/marble/tile bases, and I wanted to do the same with my Alphas - namely to have two Heresy forces that would look like they're on the same battlefield. However I've realised/remembered that there aren't really records of the Alphas being at Terra, and it's not really their style of fight, so I was wondering: In new/old lore, is there any evidence for the Alphas being at the Siege? I'm not up to date on teh SoT books, but have got up to praetorian. Do you have any good ideas/examples of Imperial Palace-style basing for heresy era armies? Thanks! For reference, below are my two attempts at what I envisage an 'Imperial Palace' base to be. Could maybe do with more marbling on the tiles.- 14 replies

I've made up a base with Milliput for flagstones, sawdust for sand and Agrellan Earth for some variation on the sand. But I forgot to add the barbed wire before I primed it. -
Hey guys, wasn't sure if this is the right place or not, or if there's already a thread that I couldn't see. I'm looking to start a new project/army and I've trawled a few painting blogs on the site, and instagram for basing ideas. But I'm hoping to get a more confined collection of ideas here. So, I ask a simple favour, post a pic here of a model that shows off the fantastic basing scheme you've come up with. With perhaps a quick description of the items you've used. So far, I've based all my Grey Knights with Armageddon dust. So its a desert looking vibe with dead grass tuffs. I'm wanting something completely different. But feel free to post anything nonetheless.

Hey guys, I cant seem to find a hobby store that sells anything remotely like this here. I specifically am looking at the green vine looking foliage. Does anyone know where to get this or something remotely similar?

My pot of Armageddon dust is running low and I have heard that vallejo texture pastes are much better value for money. Does anyone know which one is most similar in texture and colour to Armageddon dust (which is very similar to zandri dust btw), or have a conversion chart between the two brands that includes texture pastes? Thanks.

Hi all, A quick question — has anyone converted their Space Hulk Terminators so that their bases slot into regular 40mm bases and if so, what was the best means of attachment? Magnets or pins? I ask as although I want to be able to use them with the rest of my Archangels 40K army, I still want to be able to play Space Hulk with them and that's difficult to do if they're permanently on 40mm bases.
