carpediem
Syncretism is an Ecclesiarchy practice! Much like the roman catholic church, rather than telling people that they're wrong, their method of conversion is to say "Well, yes, but if you look at it this way, your gods are really just saints in service to..." (with the almost total exception of the Ruinous Powers, although there are some Khorne cults that have been converted, see for reference: death cults). I will admit, I had not thought of alternate methods of worship, partly because where the Marines had twenty founding chapters, the Sisters had one. The Founding of the Adepta Sororitas is more akin to the Second Founding, when the Legions were split into Chapters, than it has in common with the First Founding. I do agree that the Orders need more differentiation and simply more information in general. Order-based supplements would go a long way towards populising the Sisterhood, because lets face it, anyone who doesn't play Sisters just assumes they're all black and red. Yes, but as I've said before Christianity started from a single point (arguably) and has differentiated to such an extent over a mere 2014 years that I (lapsed Anglican/Episcopalian) would struggle to follow a Russian Orthodox service and can see very little of my own faith in Pentecostal worship, despite the common threads. Now, take that and multiply the time and distance factors by three or four orders of magnitude, then add in an Age of Sail speed of communication and a galaxywide policy of working with the faith that's already there. To use the vernacular, happens. There should be situations where two orders of the Sororitas meet on a campaign and absolutely fail to recognize each other as Sisters of Battle; there should be ongoing internecine feuds, if not open religious warfare. Heck, I'd write it myself if my characterization was as good as my world-building. Actually...that's not a bad idea. I'm going to pop over to the Index Astartes sub-forum (if that's an appropriate venue; if not, I'll see you in fanfiction or special projects) and start a thread for the positing of interesting/different SoB ideas. Hope to see some of you folks over there. ++ EDIT. Replaced swear filter dodge with filterable noun. t++ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288119-making-sisters-cool/page/5/#findComment-3705137 Share on other sites
Teetengee
I echo a lot of what is said above. I want to emphasize/elaborate on a few points. I think that gw should focus on the human aspect of sisters, they grow old (eventually), the emote, they die. Sure they are brainwashed and full of faith and fire, but they are at the very least humans, given the equipment of space marines. That dynamic feels like something that could appeal to a lot of people, if done properly. Also, as far as boobplate goes, just bridge between the two sides and stop bouncing bullets into the chest. You suddenly have obviously female power armour that doesn't direct incoming fire into killshots. I also think that future repentia should get more of the scars, screams, rage, pieces hanging from their flesh aspects in addition to some more action like poses. (obviously any sort of major expansion on sisters would require multipose plastics.) I also agree that there should be more distinction in official orders, even if only in color scheme as the vast majority are red and various metals and greyscale.
