No Foes Remain
So with Forge World's Third Horus Heresy book just around the coner (give or take a few weeks/month(s)) I started to plan the idea around my Imperial Fists Company. I have a Cataphractii Preator that I want to use for my Old Terran Captain but I want to change his gear and give him a hammer and a power fist. But I hit a problem, from bitz sites and Forge World's own I can't tell if any of the hammers are right handed or if any of the lightning claw right hands could be converted to a power fist and have the hammer in the left hand. So can anyone who has bought the Cataphractii upgrade kits help me at all? Thanks, Ventris. infyrana
All the cata melee options look, from the website pics, to be left handed. All ranged look right handed. Cactus
I know it's a slightly different style but the tartaros terminator lightning claw is simply a power fist with a separate blades component that fits over the back of the hand. A right-hand one of those might be your easiest option for converting to fit a cataphractii arm. Olgerth Istaarn
You can use Cat and Tart weapons that attach at the wrist interchangeably. I have a Cat armed with a Tart hammer and shield. You can also stick Tart claws (which come separately from the glove) on the Cat fist for a lightning claw conversion, looks just fine. Whole-arm bits (fists) are incompatible. No Foes Remain
Hmm, I suspected as much. Looks like I'll have to get a Tartaros power fist and work out where to cut both that and a Cataphractii arm, things are never easy. Thanks for the help, guys. Cactus
I've just been looking at the cataphractii parts on Forge World's site and those lightning claws look the business. Could you simply square-off the claws with the addition of some putty, or even use it as-is as a counts-as power fist? It hardly resembles the modern lightning claws. No Foes Remain
Maybe. In the long run I'll probably get a 5 strong squad of Cat termies and the weapons for them and see what goes. Who new being part of the ship and crew would be so difficult at times. I'm going to use a cataphractii lightning claw as a counts as master crafted powerfist on my Abbadon conversion using the terminator praetor, I've got all the parts and it fits really well and looks good. However you do need to remove the ornate shoulder guard from the praetor arm as the cataphractii arm doesn't have one and the normal cataphractii shoulder guards look very plain in comparison Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288422-cataphractii-bitz/#findComment-3630047 Share on other sites
Moonstalker
Would it not be easier to use an unmodified power fist in the left hand, and do the thunderhammer in the right hand? You could, perhaps, modify a hand from a combibolter to hold the thunderhammer? Or get a hand from a GKT with daemonhammer, do a little combination/pinning with the Cataphractii thunderhammer? Or just use the Praetor's sword-hand to hold the thunderhammer? No Foes Remain
Yeah I know, but I kinda want to keep it all as Cat armour and I don't trust my luck with modeling knives (I have sliced my thumb open three times alread) so I'm trying the easy(er) route. I think I may just say it and just give him a hammer and lightning claw. Seems easier and much less of a headache, also since I'm not a great modeler the other routes seem a bit difficult for my limited skills. Phoros
Rules-wise, why would you take a thunder hammer and power fist anyway? The former is a straight upgrade to the latter. Also, Cataphractii lightning claws look awesome. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288422-cataphractii-bitz/#findComment-3630251 Share on other sites

Ah, fair enough. I imagine you could achieve much the same effect with a lightning claw, although (of course) not quite the same one.
