Hey everyone.

This is going to be a very slow W.I.P of my new death korps army.So far i've got a quartermaster a 10 man infantry squad and 5 engineers.I also picked up 26 of the old storm troopers off ebay so ill be throwing them in for the fun of it. Ill be looking to get a heap of the various heavy weapons teams and a squad of the amazing death riders but that's going to be along way down the line.

Its all about the "rule of cool" as i'm not a player only a painter which allows my creative side to run wild.

Just finished this guy today and hes my first dk model finished.

This is Marcus de Tanco my storm trooper sgt

I used Tamiya's soil effect for the bases to try and get a muddy, sloppy effect. First time using the stuff and i quite like it.

And some of the other Grunts to be finished

So that's all for now and ill try to paint and update this as often as possible.

Don't worry, slow and purposeful is how we do things round here :P They look nice and dirty, having trudged through the mud which is fitting for Kriegers, the bases look great. I like the kill markings on the Stormie, a nice little detail!

I'm looking forward to seeing more :) A shame you don't play though as an army like this would look brilliant on the table...

Time for an update!

During the week i removed mould lines, scrubbed in warm soapy water and base coated the 5 man engineer squad ready for an evening of painting.

Managed to get the 5 done tonight and im happy with the end results.

I don't think the pictures do any justice mainly due to not having a light box so they look way too dark.

Any way enjoy and c&c welcome!

The DHL tracking website says my next order is in Sydney ready to be delivered :)

Ive cleaned up my 10 man infantry squad and got all the bits primed......eagerly awaiting the 1st May

Good pictures, helps show them off as is proper! The masks and bases really work well, keep up the good work I can't wait to see an army shot! biggrin.png

Thanks mate.I picked up some vallejo still water last weekend so i'm going to test that out on some of the bases(water filled boot prints ect) but i dont know if the infantry bases will do it justice.

Thinking of sticking the earthshaker emplacement on a custom base like a mini diorama.....i'll have to break out the green stuff and practice making some sandbags!

Oh how i love seeing a large box outside my front door.......

In this sea of china's finest resin there is;

1 Grenadier squad

4 various infantry squads

1 Artillery crew squad

1 super sexy imperial bombard

1 earthshaker emplacement

That should make for a fine ETL vow smile.png

I also ordered an artillery traktor thing but its an absolute mess,so warped/terrible quality but all the crew are perfect and managed to get half my money back on this one so its all good in the Death korps hood!

Nice looking models dude.

Your pics are pretty dark, you tried adjusting the brightness? Even the basic windows picture viewer can do this.

For example :

Edit : Literally took 3 seconds in default Windows Picture/Image viewer.

"At ease boys"

Managed to get a 10 man infantry squad done this weekend. I lost one of the lasguns and broke the blade from the sergeant wallbash.gif, ill make a new one from plasticard later.

I also picked up a can of army painters anti shine varnish and i love the look it gives to the models, suits the dull, dark and gloomy look of the death korps.

Still undecided as what to paint next. Im dying to start on the earthshaker but maybe geting through some more infantry would be best.

Great looking Death Korps here, as a fellow Death Korps player (though not until FW release us some updated rules) just keep plodding away with the infantry is my advice. If you havent already id try pick up the Imperial armour books 5,6 and 7. Very inspiring books to keep you going.

Looking good dan.... Will have to try the army Painter as dullcote makes me Leary with the humidity here.

EARTHSHAKER!!!!!:)

When I take pics I have a light source from as many angles as possible.. The lil can clamp work lights from Lowes are $2 a piece, throw in a bulb and you've got a 'light box'

Also... I second the vraks books. They give the flavor of the DKK and help set the tone for the massive attrition you are getting ready for

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm back with a BOOM!

As part of my first ETL vow i included an earthshaker carriage which was an absloute joy to paint.

I haven't started on the crew just yet but they will have to wait for a while as  run out of black primer so ill be working on the grenadier squad this week.

I tried a few new weathering techniques which were creating rust patches on the green areas and a streaky oily effect from the various bolts and rivets.

Oh and i also applied a transfers....something i haven't done in like 15 years

C&C Welcome as always.

  • 4 months later...

Ok guys its time to bring this thread back to life.

I went and got myself the baneblade kit on Saturday afternoon and ive been spent the rest of the weekend getting it to this stage. Its my entry to the treads and thrusters painting challenge too.

Plain old chaos black base.

http://i1284.photobucket.com/albums/a566/dan87smith/DSCN03871_zpsd6992324.jpg

Followed by Army painters skeleton bone.

http://i1284.photobucket.com/albums/a566/dan87smith/DSCN03881_zpsa5d925f3.jpg

Then gave it a wash with agrax earthshade.

http://i1284.photobucket.com/albums/a566/dan87smith/DSCN03891_zps79c75eea.jpg

Once dry i then got the sponge out and got cracking with the weathering process. As you can probably tell im going for the old workhorse look.

http://i1284.photobucket.com/albums/a566/dan87smith/DSCN03921_zps41074c9c.jpg

Still got lots to do but im happy how its turning out so far.

C&C Welcome as always.

That is one mean looking  machine of a tank!

Your weathering is already looking great

Have fun completing him! Or is it a her?!!

Hmmm not sure but it' sure is a beast......will have to get cracking on my imperial bombard once I'm done with this.

I've got some dkok crew to compliment the stormlord nicely.

Oh and the tracks are an absolute joy to assemble compared to the tracks on chimeras and leman russ tanks.
