My first Infantry Squad. Still need the weapon chevrons painted and to be highlighted but now at playable standard which is what I want to get the whole force to before I go back and neaten it up.

Got some Bullgryns and a Leman Russ coming tomorrow too, so will hopefully get some WIP pics of those up.

Thanks. Wanted to use the Forge World bodies but could not afford a whole army of them so they are just for the squad Sergeants, Command Squads and a few other special models.

I was planning on just using the same snow covered city scape bases I use on my CSM and Daemons to tie them all together and along with the board you play on mostly: a ruined, snowy imperial city.

But yeah, I agree. That would look awesome. Now I'm torn between them.

Cheers.

Yeah I did actually. Some were perfect fits but a few needed filing/shaving down or even green stuffing like you said. Fortunately, most of mine that use forgeworld bodies are characters that did not need lasgun arms that join up or special weapons guys so it was less of a problem, for example, the Flamer arms work perfectly.

For that matter, I struggled connecting Cadian arms on the flagellant torsos too due to the way they are shaped. If anything, they were harder to resculpt.

You should, they are a really nice kit to build, GW's current plastic kits are some of the best I have ever worked with, although it took a good hour or so to shave off all the imperial iconography. I am really pleased with the look too, the horns and the leaders banner were quite spontaneous decisions that worked out rather well :D Thanks man, although I am tempted to enter them and the Russ in the upcoming ETL so might hold off for now, never done something like that before? Plus I still have another Infantry Squad to paint up to match that first one.

The spur of the moment ideas are often the best :)

Go for it! I've assembled a Platoon ready for the ETL, just waiting for the starting shot to be fired :D I'll do them first which will give me time to accumulate some more tanks for my second vow. I'm pretty busy in the upcoming months so I've got to be careful about what I vow - better to make smaller ones and complete rather than risk failure :)

Yeah :)

Nice one :D I think it would be good to start small (and with expensive units to rack up more points) with the bullgryns and Leman Russ as I have never done a challenge like this before and I want to complete it. It would be a personal achievement for me as I have never been a fast painter :)

Cool stuff! You are really putting the "Bull" in those Bullgryns. Be sure to make a lot of "If you take the bull by the horns..." jokes when you get them into close combat :)

Also, you can trawl eBay for second-hand forgeworld torsos for less than the cost of new, but with the new AM/IG codex, the supply may be different now.

Cheers Ammonius!! Hahaha!! That's brilliant msn-wink.gif

Thanks for the Ebay suggestion too, got my eye on a couple of sets of torsos at the moment.

No problem, those of us that have left the double eagle behind need to stick together, Death to the False Emperor! thumbsup.gif

Too right!! Death to the False Emperor Brother! thumbsup.gif

Cheers!

That's a very good point actually, never really thought about it.

I suppose, as they are the PCS, I could just say they have a slightly fancier Vox with it all built in and installed inside.

Alternatively, I have a few spare Flamers around so I could just add a couple of canisters as 'oxygen tanks' at the bottom of the Vox, the tubes run behind him anyway and end near the backpack so it'll look like it runs down/through. I'll chop a few up and see how they look.

I think that's why I never thought of it myself ;) Thanks, yeah, hopefully. Want to get a lot done today on my day-off from uni revision :)

Update on PCS Vox - he is modeled as though he has received orders and is radioing them in.

Not sure if the picture is clear enough, might need some better light so give us a shout if you want a better one, I'll stick the flash on, but I tried to paint a little map on to his documents as though he is directing an attack.

With Black broken lines for roads, Grey squares for buildings, a big and small Red cross to represent the primary and secondary objectives respectively and green arrows to represent troop movements.

That's amazing!!! It does a bit; scratching his head looking at the map. It's the warp's fault, and chaos', yeah, chaos that's it...

On the plus side, if anything scatters onto my own men, we all know who is getting sacrificed to the Dark Gods that day

Cheers!

Heh. I meant, how are you doing the modeling? :) Sorry, it was an early morning post.

Oh, it's okay, sorry mate.

I literally just hacked the rebreather backpack off with a pair of clippers, shaved it flat with a knife and filed it smooth before sticking the Vox in its place. The only tricky part was ensuring the tubes coming from his oxygen mask were long enough to reach the Vox once it was stuck otherwise they would just be floating in mid air and would not look right but I clipped them were they connect to the tanks at the back first so they did not snap off in the process.

Other than that, I had to slightly adjust the position of the right arm so it was touching his head for the 'radioing in' look but otherwise not too difficult a process - my modeling skills are quite lacking anyway so I could not get much more extensive than that. Hopefully that helps :)
