Definitely!! Although saying that, I'm very lucky in that my Girlfriend really likes watching me paint/helping me stick stuff together even if she would not have a clue what it is I was making so even if she is over I'll still get stuff done biggrin.png Still got a month and a half before competitions end and I got my first 3 vows painted in less time than that. I'm thinking I can get a pretty sizable final vow in, and maybe even take the award for most points pledged overall in my first ETl. Not sure how many I would need for that though.

As long as she doesn't talk about "Fabulous Bill of the Space Machines", maybe she can fetch you paints and wash brushes? :P We must all come together for victory including the home front. Digging for victory isn't required, unless you're a Krieger of course.

You've done a grand job, so you've plenty of time and the proven dedication to do a hefty final vow - just be careful. It'd be a tragedy that'd make Shakespeare weep if you were to put all this effort in and fall at the last hurdle.... If you're set on the award for then you only need worry about the IG as I don't think the AdMech or GK etc have massive vows - might be worth a check if you really fancy a stab at it. Look no further than the start of the strategium for people's totals. I note that your second vow needs the bases done for completion, any word on that?

Hahaha!!! I'm sure she would be happy to help ;)

Thank you so much.

Yeah, I was worried about that, but with a target to aim for such as highest points I will have a much bigger goal to aim for and keep me motivated. Although I don't mind if I don't get it, there has been so many brilliant contributions.

Funny you should ask about that actually, I was just uploading the based photos now :)

It would be a great thing to put in your sig, but completing 5 vows is enough of a feat never mind substantial ones so you're coming out of the ETL well even if you don't reach the top. Unless you fail the vow, in which case only great shame and dishonour await :P

Due to a lot of interest on here about different poses for Scions shooting Plasma Guns I am now putting a tutorial up here on how I built these so as to not have three of the same at ease pointing look: https://www.flickr.com/photos/122948524@N05/14473987836/

Unfortunately I don't have any unbuilt at the moment so there will be few pictures to accompany it but I'll do my best to mock something up.

Basically, I glue all the pieces together as though I am building either a flamer or grenade launcher armed Scion however I cut away the weapons like so:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/122948524@N05/14496317634/

I tend to use clippers to cut away most of the main parts of the weapon and tidy up with a knife and file.

I then stick a plasma gun (any type, I use IG and CSM ones but SM would work just as well) on in its place and it fits perfectly. That's all there is too it really, a very simple conversion that gives much more variety to your Scions.

Thanks for your interest guys, hope this helps. Look forward to seeing more like this.

So, this is a request to help keep me motivated to to finish my 4th vow.

I hate painting infantry and am losing motivation with all the other cool stuff I have ready for vow 5. Out of my 10 scions, 2 are done, 3 with only bases and fine details to go and 5 base coated and washed (so about 1/2 done). I need to get this done so any motivation would be welcome.

If it helps, here are pictures of a lot of my next vow. If you want to see these done soon, please help me get through this ;)

What are you talking about? You've almost finished those troopers! Batch painting is the way to go with infantry, quicker to do and if things get boring just mix it up by breaking it down a bit more or going and painting a different model. Surely the chance to be ever closer to your fifth vow models is all the motivation you need to finish this one?

Just imagine how great they'll all look done - something that's increasingly easier as you paint :)

Haha, what was I going on about? I think I got my motivation back! Just got straight back into it and only have the bases and graffiti left to do to have 5/10 finished. I'm so happy with how they look I can't stop and it made me feel so much better about it after I got through it so quick :) I need to get them done in the next few days to make sure I have time to finish vow 5 - the possibility of procrastinating through this and failing my last vow is enough.

I think it's just the thought that I dread - I want these to be the best I can produce and it means a lot if detail that takes time. But it's not as bad as I think and once I just do it it's never as bad. Do you guys find yourself doing the same?

That's more like it soldier! It's like skinning a xeno; seems a chore at first but once you get started you enjoy yourself smile.png

I found my resolve weakened at times, especially during the earlier stages of my vow. So many troopers, all the camouflage needing doing and the extra work involved with the HWTs and a hectic schedule to juggle... but then I imagined the look upon everyone's faces, their big eyes full of sadness and disappointment looking up at me as I had failed in my sacred duty to forum and Emperor - and then I'd find my determination burning ever brighter with the desire to kill all xenos get back to painting!

Thanks Ammonius!! Would definitely recommend them to anyone considering doing the same.

Definitely! I think I just needed that inspiration back and it reckon I could get far with finishing them today. Only problem is, can't make vow 5 until the knight arrives. Ordered last week but there were a few problems with stock so had to wait until it was ordered in today. Will hopefully be sent today to arrive tomorrow - did pay for 1st class.

Thank you - although as it's undoubtedly going to end up being a filthy heretic and traitor I don't know if it will do much good. *Insert obligatory Word Bearers players 'persuasion' to embrace the primordial truth instead hehe* ;) yeah, was hoping to see a lot more in this ETL than I have so far. Although, I found some great inspiration for chaos knights online, and was very pleased to see not a single Word Bearers themed one so hopefully this will be a first.
