Dark_Apostle_XVII
Good Morning Guys Last exam was yesterday - now finished my First Year of Uni and ready to take up from where I left off! First off, here is the completion of my Third Vow - 1 Wyvern. https://www.flickr.c...05/14303528644/ https://www.flickr.c...05/14304100445/ https://www.flickr.c...05/14302188352/ *And if anyone is interested, the 'Faith, Hate, Vengeance, Truth' is a quote from the Anthony Reynolds Word Bearers Series. And now for my Fourth Vow: I Dark_Apostle_XVII answer the call of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete: 1 Knight Commander Pask (the Traitor Guard 'Counts-As equivalent anyway) in a Leman Russ Vanquisher with Hull Mounted Lascannon, Dozer Blade and Camo Netting - once again represented by Daemonic Possession and I have an Idea of an almost Chaos Pulpit type thing which could incorporate a mild forcefield to achieve this too. (235) https://www.flickr.c...05/14304111895/ Veteran Squad with Vox Caster, 3 Plasma Guns, Grenadiers and Forward Sentries - Grenadiers is represented by using the Scion models as they have Carapace Armour and Forward Sentries by the roll of cloth on their backpack painted to look like a Camo-Cloak. (135) https://www.flickr.c...05/14117487510/ https://www.flickr.c...05/14303539494/ from Codex: Astra Militarum of total value 370 Points, on or before August 1st. Success will bring eternal glory to my comrades in the Imperial Guard Forum and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of Shame until the year-end. Quoted from my last ETL 3 Post - Can't wait to get back into this again now I'm free :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289558-traitor-guard/page/4/#findComment-3701599 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Yep! Though the first year of uni is the easy one it's easier to step into the second once you have a proper taster :) I wish I had large chunks of free time coming up to dedicate to the hobby! Fingers crossed you got good results Now, with such huge tracts of land time available to you it sounds to me like you can make a hefty 5th vow... :P I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work Apostle :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289558-traitor-guard/page/4/#findComment-3701612 Share on other sites

Dark_Apostle_XVII
Yeah, was not sure how easy it would be to get back into work after my Gap Year but this first year has been great, really happy with my coursework results and I think the exams went well :) It is a nice feeling to be able to dedicate some proper time to it now :) Thank you And as for a Fifth Vow, not sure at the moment, would love to go out with something huge, but equally, I am already doing better than I had expected for my first ever ETL so I don't know - would hate to be to ambitious and not complete/therefore fail everything after all this work. Thanks Hendrik!! :D Wow!! That means a lot mate, thank you so much. I am looking forward to getting my first game of the new edition in with them. Been very busy this morning, here is the start of my Pask and a test miniature for the Chaos Veterans/Scions. The Scions are intentionally less rusted than the rest of the army as their armour is the medium between the Traitor Guard and their Word Bearer Allies - a reward for their service in turning the regiment to Chaos (CCS will have similar armour). Also, the Plasma Gun is a conversion, have 3 in the Squad and could not have them all in the at ease, pointing pose so converted 2. Can detail how to if people are interested. https://www.flickr.com/photos/122948524@N05/14117846640/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/122948524@N05/14281333666/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/122948524@N05/14303896084/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289558-traitor-guard/page/4/#findComment-3701659 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Indeed, better to be careful and under vow than fail but let's be honest there is loads of time left so I don't think you're in any danger unless you vow an entire army or something crazy like that :P Maybe you have a nice Baneblade lying around? Speedy work though, I'm just going to keep telling myself that's because you have so much more free time than me. Yes, that's probably the only reason... :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289558-traitor-guard/page/4/#findComment-3701730 Share on other sites
Dark_Apostle_XVII
You're right, it's only the end of May, I was thinking I only had 1 Month left of the competition but we have the whole of June and July. Get this Vow finished in a week or so and I might actually have time for a big finale ;) I don't think I actually have much left to paint to be honest - well I have whole platoon but it's already half painted so can't use that :/ I reckon I could get together another 400 or so points of stuff though, got a few things left to buy to 'finish' (but we all know that won't ever happen) the army off anyway... Thanks. Hahaha!! It probably is to be fair ;) Have you been convinced about the Scions yet? :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289558-traitor-guard/page/4/#findComment-3701838 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Maybe you should treat yourself for getting through the first year? I hear Baneblades make excellent gifts... :P The Scions are cool, but I've got a bucket of the SAS style Stormies that aren't invalidated save for the new weapon (which I'm indifferent about) so I'm loath to get anything that will clash with them. I like uniformity and my regiment is big on it too so it wouldn't fit to mix and match which is a significant block on getting any Scions So unless you can somehow work around that argument I probably can't be convinced! Dark_Apostle_XVII
Hahaha!!! I heard that too, will have to see how much student loan I have left though ;) Although, saying that, I have been trying to sell off a lot of my bits box as my mate wanted some bits the other day and I got a decent price for some - did not realise how much they sell for, so it will be funding my last vow if I get the rest sold. To be honest, I completely agree with you there. I am exactly the same with all mine. Had I been in the same position I would do the same as I would only use one style or the other. Only option would be use them as Carapace Veterans I guess but you probably already have those too. The Beret heads are nice though, and work with normal guard too - but then if that is my only argument to buy them, you're better off just getting them separately ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289558-traitor-guard/page/4/#findComment-3701886 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
I sculpt my own beret heads now, pretty good at it too. I could run them as carapace Veterans, I think that could be the only way. I think GW missed the boat with a proper carapace Guardsman kit as that could have been really cool. Maybe one day, along with new Rough Riders and the Griffon... Dark_Apostle_XVII
Awesome :) Yeah, I agree with you there. Would love new rough riders too, I think they are a cool concept but the old look is terrible :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289558-traitor-guard/page/4/#findComment-3701932 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
May the Emprah smile on us and make it so one day... until then we've got our ETL vows to work on ;) I need to finish work for the day and you need to sell some bits so you can buy a Baneblade - so hop to it soldier! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289558-traitor-guard/page/4/#findComment-3701943 Share on other sites

Dark_Apostle_XVII
Thanks mate! I really wanted to do the best I could for this forum in my first try, I'm glad you all approve :) And by the way, the chaos runes on the front of this tank (just below the turret) is the closest I could get to WarriorFish using the only chaos rune conversion I could find online. Wanted to make a subtle dedication in thanks for your frequent support in this project since joining and through the ETL, it makes me want to work harder. Cheers :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289558-traitor-guard/page/4/#findComment-3705207 Share on other sites
Idlem
The kitbashing is just superb. It really transforms your army into a great traitor guard. I especially like the work you did on the back on the banewolf, it just gives it so much character. Looking forward to the rest. Keep up the good work. Dark_Apostle_XVII
Oh wow!! Cheers Kiloflix, I am proud to have been an inspiration :D Hopefully, as soon as I get back from uni I'll be able to get some of my actual Word Bearers CSM painted up to accompany the traitor guard :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289558-traitor-guard/page/4/#findComment-3705816 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
That's a good idea, your Guard could benefit from some meat shields to send into the enemy lines to keep them busy and let your Guard get on with the job at hand. For now though banish such thoughts - there is only the ETL! :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289558-traitor-guard/page/4/#findComment-3705832 Share on other sites

WarriorFish
Nice to see how well your colour scheme converts to a more "normal" Guard model, the chainsword looks good especially with the old school hazard stripes :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289558-traitor-guard/page/4/#findComment-3708883 Share on other sites
chaplainmikey
Colour scheme looks great on the Scion model. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289558-traitor-guard/page/4/#findComment-3711287 Share on other sites
Dark_Apostle_XVII
Thanks Mikey! Wasn't sure if it would work alongside the rusted look of my standard troops so I am glad you think it works. I wanted a medium between my guard and the Word Bearers they will fight alongside :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289558-traitor-guard/page/4/#findComment-3711298 Share on other sites
Dark_Apostle_XVII
Between painting my Veteran Squad to finish up ETL Vow 4, I have been working on part of my final Vow, thought I would share it with you guys/give you a sneak peek ;) Company Command Squad with: Carapace Armour, Camo Gear (Rolled up Camo Cloaks on backpack) 2 Plasma Guns, Medi Pack, Vox Caster, Power Maul, Tactical Auto Reliquary (Dirge Caster conversion to represent a Dischord type object from the Word Bearers novels - used by the Traitor Guard's allies to ensure they comply with orders), Kurov's Aquila (Familiar). https://www.flickr.com/photos/122948524@N05/14457471122/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/289558-traitor-guard/page/4/#findComment-3723646 Share on other sites
