What Look Do You Want for Your Primarch?

Recommended Posts

Perhaps something evoking the imagery surrounding the historical Vlad the Impaler? Like having the Night Haunter walking away calmly and casually with multiple desecrated Loyalist corpses on iron pikes behind him?

Not all Primarchs have to be depicted in an dynamic pose to be good. Lorgar's miniature (all except for the head) is an example. Fits the Aurelian's personality to a T.

My 20 pence worth:

Dorn: Calmly advancing, pacing forward wit sword held low in one hand, the other curled into a fist. Bolter on strap over shoulder. Smouldering, brooding, menacing but knightly.

Curze: Slavering, hunched over, claws scraping ground, looking up through lank bloody hair, crushing Raven Guard veterans helm in one hand. Head maybe cocked to one side with a dead mans grin, glassy eyed.

Vulcan: Calmly standing, hammer over shoulder, surveying battlefield. Very regal and majestic.

Russ - breaking Magnus across his knee!

Only kidding. I bought this thinking it would be a perfect counts-as Russ: http://www.kabukimodels.com/en/knights-of-legend/80-celtic-knight.html
Unfortunately when he arrived he turned out to be hardly big enough to be a regular marine. I think though that the sense of motion and aggression works well.

I just want to see Magnus cast in amber resin, arms outstretched, hair wild.

Russ, sword low and held in one hand, leaned forward, shoulders hunched, driving forward like a glacier.

Sanguinus, as he appeared in the moment he touched down on Melchior at the beginning of Fear to Tread.

I'm surprised we have so many people clamoring for a spear option for Sanguinius. Lots of James Swallow fans, I suppose. It would be nice to have a primarch with an alternate weapon option. Either his sword or the Spear of Telesto.

Leman Russ and Magnus the Red - a diorama in the same vein as the Ferrus Manus and Fulgrim duel.

If Simon Egan has his way, that's what we'll get (based on his comments at Gamesday 2013).

I hope very much for this. I know Simon Egan is the man that can show an awesome diorama of the duel between Russ and Magnus, and still maintain each Primarchs personality so they can be used without problem outside the diorama.

Really hope Egan ends up doing this.

Lion El' Jonson with his sword through that traitor Curze's back

Is that before or after having his skull smashed in and the life nearly choked out of him?

Trifles.

How about him standing over Curze's bleeding out body after defeating him after a minute of combat?

Hmmmmmmm?

I'd pay to see the look on both the lion and guillimans face the second they realised curze made them walk into a hall full of grenades (yes I know they escaped but one seconds worth of facial expression would be worth it!

then a 3 way battle of them modelled at that moment

They could always have the scene where Curze has the Lion down and is about to kill him but then a cowardly Angel stabs him in the back. :whistling:

That's cool too. I like watching a mere astartes riding Curze like a horse with his sword in his back.

Or how about the Lion about to leap from a spar in his flagship about to skewer an unsuspecting Curze?

We can tango all day bro :P

To be honest I think Bonnie Tyler said it best

He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight

Russ should look like he moving from one fight to the next striding forward his sword raised ready to strike, Freki & Greki running beside.  Definately no diarrhearama with magnus.  Maybe one eye can be cast in two pieces melting in to the ground as so far he hasn't done much in the heresy apart from screwing up the big E's plans and getting beat down.  Although it seems likely that FW will do something daft with the pair of them.

As for the rest I'm not that fussed I haven't thought much of the current crop of primarchs that have been released so I haven't got much hope for them.

Dorn could be hiding leaning on his sword surveying the fighting on Terra.

Sang & Corax should be in flight.

Guillman could come with a group of alpha legionnaires or grasping Matt Ward's head and looking at him in disgust.

Vulcan and Curze could be having a discussion about comparative morality as that it there most memorable contribution to the heresy so far (maybe with Nick Kyne looming over them).

Lionelo should be holding his sowrd above his head in the thundercats pose.

Allpharius/Omegon shouldn't be represented in miniature as it doesn't fit their sneaky ways just use some standard marines.

Perturbo should be forgotten.  If he isn't he should have a full on Brian Blessed beard and a bald head.

Mortation shouldn't look anything like the grim reaper.

The Khan will be forgotten even though he should have the best mini ever to make up for his awful artwork (Genghis Khan on Steroids with a weird sword not a good look far to Ming the Merciless)

FW did announce that Egan will be doing Russ.

Dorn would look great in a Calgar-esque pose, striding forward with his arms to the sides, to really convey the size of his weapons, his cape fluttering behind.

Mortarion should be the opposite, his cloak covering a good part of him as if struck by wind from behind. His cowl should be down, his head almost invisible but for the rebreather, and all around him there should be marine corpses.

Vulkan, I can see him calmly taking a step forward while starting to swing his hammer. His cloak should have a high collar, scales and fangs almost obscuring the lower half of his face.

Alpharius should have a calm, almost statuesque pose, holding the spear horizontally, both of his hands on its center. His head should be slightly tilted to the right, like in the Book 3 illustration, so as to have him creepily looking at 'something'.

Perturabo: open hand thrusting forward as if giving the order to fire, the other closed to his side, preferably gripping Forgebreaker.

Sanguinius: duel scene with Ka'Bhanda, 'matador' pose while leaping forward. Sword-arm back, ready to plunge into the daemon's face, the other to the front.

Curze and the Lion: Curze crouching as if ready to strike, arms to the side and back, claws open, cape thrown back, teeth showing in a gnarl. The Lion, I think a standing pose with his sword held straight pointing at Curze would look nice. He should look perfectly regal.
