Iron Warriors Decimator

Recommended Posts

It's a bit late in the process to post as WIP, but I might as well. Completion is still a few days off, but I want to show him around already.

This is my Iron Warriors Decimator. Note that I try to keep the gold to a minimum, usually only the shoulder trims to not break completely with the traditional scheme, because I prefer Iron Warriors to be mostly dirty/oily silver metal. In my opinion this helps to bring hazard stripes to bear, as silver metal is a better contrast to the blackandyellow stripes, and also too much majestic gold takes away from a gritty appearance that imo suits attrition-oriented siege troops much more.

Also note that the model's left upper arm is actually another left upper leg. It was a mixup in the delivered kit, but I simply didn't bother to go through the replacement process (as easy as it would have been) and simply rolled with it.

And this is my current status. I added fleshy parts to the mass of cables around the head. I understand that it's a demon engine, a possessed construction made of metal, but my interpretation of Chaos does not bother about that and simply warps the organic matter it into reality, bringing the engine closer to the image it represents, a bipedal creature.

So I'm making this fence thingy you can see here and I must mention my inspiration to this, even though posting it here will just underline how unaccomplished my simple hommage is.:

This was made by a Denis Dubanevich. Amazing work, even though the strong yellow vibe is not my thing.

In addition to the base I'll add some girders or poles on top of the shoulders to hold some barbed wire. It's a theme I have going on in my IW company, and it really does its part to add to the Iron Warriors character, underlining the siege theme in an evil looking way.

See you next update!

Very nice work! thumbsup.gif

Thanks for the reply!

(Do you recognise the conversion style on the champ in the fourth pic? I did that many years ago, all your influence, my best piece of greenstuff conversion to date, thanks to you. thumbsup.gif)

I'll be watching this thread with interest, keep up the good work. :)

I finished a girder which will be glued on a shoulder and hold barbed wire, spanned between it and other girders. It took quite some time and effort to finish just this one, I don't have much experience and skill working on this level of detail yet. I'm considering to make the other girders smaller, more simplified. So far it's been a bit too time intensive.

I should do something about the crack along the spine. I'll try to fill it up with some carefully applied glue.

Till next update!

A final addition I'd like to make is to try some pigment powder on the legs, for some nice desert-dust effect. I got myself a bottle of vallejo pigment powder the other day, but didn't realise that I also need some fixer fluid, so that might be another update that might happen in the near future.

A couple more pics of the completed model in the correspondent Hall of Fame thread (see link)

Hope you enjoy! wink.png
