What is a good use for Apothecaries?

I have decided that the Van Halen Crusade needs an Apothecary called "Doctor Feelgood".  Why?  Cause it's a BT/SM chapter based on hair metal.  So what's a good use for these guys?

If you're using Codex Space Marines :

 

1. Buy Apothecary for Command Squad.

 

2. Apothecary stays in Command Squad, cannot leave.

 

3. ?????

 

4. PROFIT!!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Put him in an all Plasma command squad to mitigate gets hot rolls. Put him in any command squad to make them tougher. This is their only role.

Okay, cool.  I hadn't really looked into them since I thought about using them in the old BT dex when the rules were very different.

I have one in my command squad. Hopefully it will help mitigate any pesky shots when they charge out of my Landraider Crusader.

Useful to make a tanky Captain more tanky.

 

Or do the opposite and take a killer Captain with storm shield veterans and an Apothecary.

Coupled with T5 on bikes or a 3++ and assuming you have an attached HQ then I say yes.

The FNP is good. :)

Its just a shame it can't be spread around more. I was hoping for Blood Angel style Apothecaries. Buy a few as an elite slot and spread them around. Alas, that seems to be a BA only thing.

4-3+ with clan raukaan but different story. the fact he cant leave the command squad means hes stuck in a squad of 5 guys (iwth attached ICs) but the fnp is nice

Unless you play the forgeworld chapter tactics (which is supposed to be sanctioned) for Red Scorpions.  Then you can upgrade all your tactical squad sgt's for apothecaries.   Other than that though the only place is command squads as above.
