ETLIII - Return of the Templars!

Recommended Posts

BROTHERS! KEEP IN MIND THAT THE PENANCE VOW IS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE FAILED. THE ENEMY IS ALREADY ATTEMPTING TO NEGOTIATE THEIR SURRENDER AND DISTRACT YOU FROM YOUR GOALS.

CHAOS IS INSIDIOUS.

WE.WILL.ACCEPT.NO.TERMS.

SHARPEN YOUR SWORDS. FOCUS ON THE TASK AHEAD. THIS BATTLE IS OURS, BUT REMAINS TO BE WON.

TEMPLARS ONWARDS!!!

Here is what I wrote on my Crusade thread...

Brothers!!! Today we stand at the precipice of Victory! A challenge has been issued to us... a challenge to overtake them in their place as Champions of E Tenebrae Lux... they call it a 'challenge', I call it a mistake... the Emperor is with us! and together with the Angels of Death we are invincible... We will make the very paint they are using turn green with envy (that doesn't help us doesn't it.... tongue.png) We will shake their very forum with the amount ofZEAL that we will unleash... we will be but the Vanguard of their downfall... they cannot win... none can...

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF THE EMPEROR! WITH FAITH, FURY and most of all ZEAL WE WILL CRUSH THEM WITH OUR MIGHT! Now I ask this of you Brothers... WHO SHALL TAKE UP THE BRUSH! WHO SHALL ANSWER THE CHALLENGE! STAND WITH US NOW!!!

RAISE YOUR BRUSHES! PAINT YOUR CRUSADER SEALS! LET ZEAL FLOW THROUGH YOUR VEINS LIKE THE VERY GENESEED THAT IT WAS WROUGHT FROM!

NO PITY! NO REMORSE! NO FEAR!

hope it inspires some Neophytes.

edit: regarding the Challenge of Chaos... I just remembered...

remember that time when an Ork Warboss challenged Grimaldus in Helsreach... and Grimaldus didn't even respond he just smashed the things skull into oblivion...

I say the same... why answer the challenge? because our sire Sigismund used to do it? nah.... maybe its because our Emperor's Champion does it... but that is completely different... we're not all Emperor's Champion, but we are all Emperor's Chosen, his righteous Crusaders unto death!!! so instead of answering the challenge... instead of vowing an oath of penance in-case you fail.... how about a 'What Would Grimaldus Do?'....don't worry about the challenge and SMASH THOSE HERETICS WITH THE MIGHT OF YOUR ZEAL!

Fell out of the hobby for a bit, but had an urge to check in at the B&C again. Must have been the surge in zeal. I have some models, and some ideas, and... some... motivation... yes.. yes this will do nicely...

YEEEEESSSSS!

Dude! Welcome back! You have EXCELLENT timing brother.

I should be writing my M.A. thesis, but... well, my mind is sort of preoccupied with something else at the moment. So I decided to squander some time and do some simple mathematics.

At this moment, based on the current update, we have 33 Black Templar participants.

Other C:SM Chapters have a total of 30 participants, at the moment.

The Dark Angels too have 30 participants.

Wolfs and Blood Angels both have 15 participants.

The elite Grey Knights, so pure and incorruptible, have a mere number of 3 participants (granted, their vows are pretty impressive).

With an accompanying Chaplain, I visited the Chaos subforum.

Chaos have 29 participants.

Horus Heresy 30.

Forces of the Imperium, 22.

All in all, C:SM are pretty lucky they got us as reinforcements. Or is it the other way around, I wonder.

Still, I don't know how we are standing with regard to points, but that does not matter. Because every Black Templar is worth at least 10 marines of other Chapters.

I did this tally to check something. To check how "the guys who got squatted" / "got rolled into C:SM" are doing. And if this is not a proof that the Black Templars are a great, devoted community, I don't know what is. Besides, we got an awful lot of neophytes and initiates (new players, that is). We were unlucky not to be profitable enough, we may not have the best codex out there, but we appear to have something more. And that something more is the very popular concept, mainly written in capital letters and red: ZEAL.

So, I'm pretty proud to be a Templar!

Remember Brothers:  Re-vow if you complete your initial vows and are confident you can complete further ones.  You get a total of 5 vows.  Right now the Dark Angels have 4 less participants than the Black Templars have, but our vows are much smaller.  Let's show them how its done!

I've got an ETL update in my Crusade thread here.  I have to say brothers, I'm blown away by the speed at which some of you paint. I had hoped to finish the SE by tonight but since my family takes up a large portion of my time I wasn't able to. :(  I had really wanted to help get us out in front by getting my first vow done in the first week. The Storm Eagle has taken lots of dry fitting to make sure everything is going to go together correctly and that has eaten up a lot of time.

Still got 1000 points including a land raider for more vows. Wow I actually love etl it got me a reason to start building a paintings templars. also I'm on a roll right now in terms of building units got a 1000 points built in a week an today built a LRC and some neophytes. It took 6 hours though.

Acebaur,

Do not worry about speed. The attack which ends the war with a single strike can be more important then a thousand rapid blows.  But then of course, it was those blows that allowed the moment for the strike to land.

Zeal makes all things possible!

The Stormeagle is a pain to build... I still got cuts as a testament to that... but it is a very very impressive bird... only thing that would be cooler would be Eberious' Thunderhawk.... oh how I'd like to vow that...

Do not worry Brother Ace. I only finished my stuff because I had literally nothing better to do!

A Templar must do his duty, and family is a big part of that. I also seem to remember you having children Neophytes? The next generation of Templars needs to be guided properly too. This takes time, but it is an honorable task! cool.png

We've also got a decent lead already (special mention to Tekman here, great job!thumbsup.gif ) and we'll need some more completions in the following weeks too! The most depressing part of last years summary was the amount of zero-completions during a week. I think we went 3 weeks or something without finishing anything. cry.gif

In short: Keep it up, Templars! We're doing such an awesome job, even the Captain is regretting throwing us in with the other AoD's! devil.gif

A Templar does not have to worry that his brothers are counting his sword strikes. That practice is for chapters who harbor insecurities regarding their faith and purpose. What matters most as a Templar is that did you show up when needed and were you there at the end to stand victorious. Failing a last stand, did you die with honor.

That is all that matters to a Templar, his honor.

Brothers I am disappointed. I had hoped to finish my first vow to be on the first weeks report, but the Storm Eagle has thwarted me. The craziness of making sure everything was going to fit has taken up too much time and My LRC has nary a drop of paint on it. Fortunately ti will go much faster as the kit has far less complicated pieces that need to fit together. The Eagle will be done soon and I was going to put the Templar cross with the wings bit on there, Since it has a small plaque on it I was thinking of putting either Zeal or ETL III.  What say you? Which shall adorn my Storm Eagle?

For reference the bit I'm speaking of is right under the backpack in this pic http://www.diver.pt/loja/images/BlackTemplarsChapterUpgrade.jpg

ETL III sounds good.  And don't be hard on yourself.  Remember that even though you are vowing, you are still painting for your own crusade.  Don't rush a job and end up being disappointed by the end product.  Take your time and be happy to be contributing both to your own armies, and your brothers in arms!

Another vote for ETLIII, Ace.

I too know the frustration of not completing my first vow when I thought I would.  This week has been a total hobby-fail & I doubt I'll get chance to get anything done until Sunday.

On the plus side, I've been planning my subsequent vows, so it's not been a total waste.
