The Dolourus Crusade.

Recommended Posts

I have been told by the wife that my son wants to buy me "some thing gaming".

I was thinking a Stalker or a Storm Talon as I have little anti air, other than my Storm Raven and a couple of Missile Launchers. I like the idea of my Storm Talon coming on with my Storm Raven, Escorting I believe is the rule.

I have 2 Landraiders, a Vindicator, a Predator, 2 Razorbacks, a Rhino, a Knight, and plenty of Neophytes, Initiates and Sword Brothers ( TDA and PA ).

I was wondering what you guys have used and which you think would be best to add to my crusade.

Brothers, rejoice, the Storm Talon 'Veloce Mortem' joins my Crusade. Literally translated as Swift Death, the addition of this agile and deadly aircraft will greatly aid my Crusade in the destruction of the ancient Necrontyr.

"Report!" barked Marshall Dolorus.

"Alpha squad, minimum resistance, moving to target omega."

"Bravo squad, heavy resistance, engaging."

"Charlie squad, enemy armor sighted, grid Epsilon."

This was the news Brother Tranil had been waiting for. "Hold Brother, 'Veloce Mortem' inbound."

Brother Julian looked up as the Storm Talon screamed over head. In a blaze of rockets and Assault Cannon fire the Necron construct exploded in a flash of green fire. "Target destroyed, 'Veloce Mortem' returning to holding pattern."

"Good shooting 'Veloce Mortem', Charlie squad moving to target omega."

Marshall Dolorus smiled, the Storm Talon was all that High Marshal Helbrecht had said it was, and more.

Off topic.

"The Golden Throne is failing. Finally. Is the vessel ready?"

"For ten thousand years we have waited, How many vessels have been made ready?"

"One hundred and three, every time it is better than before. The current vessel is the greatest yet."

"So, my father is dieing?"

"So it would seem. But will he turn left or right?"

"His last words were cryptic but, we beleive he will return."

"But we don't know. He may yet decide to pass beyond."

"When was the last communion?"

"My Father is a complicated man. He will do what he beleives will advance his plan."

"You did not answer my question."

"Time is not linear in the beyond, no one can know when the last communion was."

"Am I to take it from your refusal to answer that we have had no communion for over four thousand years?"

"In your measure of time, the last communion was thirty five point three hours ago."

"And you failed to tell us? Why?"

"Everything is in place, your order have kept the Vigil for over ten thousand years. You have done well. Do not worry yourselves of the minute details, He, will worry about them."

"Oh, and He is pleased with the vessel, He especially likes the eyes."

Depends where it was positioned. I would want it positioned in the console, shining out and upwards to dramatically light the pilot... But might be pretty hard to fit. And a lot of work for a small effect!

I was thinking below the front console aiming up at the pilot, lighting him from just above his feet, but yes, it would be a lot of mod work for the effect, but I have seen it done with an Imperial Knight cockpit, that you cant see until you take off the carapace, so I might do it, I will take a look and see if it's worthwhile and give the effect I am after.

I was also toying with putting red LED's in the engines and position thrusters underneath. biggrin.png

A guy at my local has lit his raven and talon with green/red LEDs, on the wing/tail etc like a commercial aircraft. Even a blinking light when it is in hover mode! He also installed an interior light in the raven hold so you can see all the detail. He paints like a boss though, so it was worth it. The overall effect of the two on the table is impressive.

Well, bolt out of the blue, got home after work the other night to find an old work mate (6 years ago) sat in my lounge drinking coffee.

So, to cut a long story short, there will be four of us going to GW HQ Nottingham on 28th Dec 2014.

It seems the Inquisitor, or rather the Demon that took his body, that was engineering the destruction of the Dolourus Crusade has managed to get the ageless Necrons and the ravenous Tyranids on the same planet at the same time.

4 players, 2 against 2, 2K of Tyranids and 2K of Necrons against 3K of BT and 1K of Grey Knights.

I think this calls for a purging. furious.gif

  • 2 weeks later...

My Knight now has a new switch and a slightly extended rear section to it's rapid fire Battle Cannon, a broken switch required replacing.

Behold 'Militus Letum' with weapons primed. I will take a pic of the eyes and Laser pointer working together, through smoke, illuminating a target at some point.
