Urael
The Gore on Tyberos came out great! He looks like he got annoyed at how long it was taking Hunger and Slake to finish an opponent, so he just bit his throat out instead. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291842-carcharodon-astra/page/3/#findComment-3714467 Share on other sites
Primarch83
Some tactical squad base coat work. Primarch83
Disease: Very easy. GW texture Armageddon Dust is painted over a small amount of sand I got from the beach near by. Add in grass tufts stuck into the texture paint while its drying so they have the sides covered. Agrax Earthshade (or any brown or yellow wash) over that. Drybrush Ushabti Bone lightly. Then brush a small amount of Forgeworld Dark Sand weathering powder. Matt varnish spray to seal it in. I do this step at the same time I do the decal/weathering and powder for the model lower joints/deep spots, that way the matt varnish seals it all in one go. You could skip alot of that and just pack on the weathering powder on the base and seal it in and get a similar effect I think. My new plan after talking to Uprising is to layer up sand in spots to get rises and have old buildings/rocks coming out of spots. Give it more depth Cheers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291842-carcharodon-astra/page/3/#findComment-3717437 Share on other sites
Primarch83
First tactical marine done. This was a test to see how many/what steps would be needed to get one done from start to finish. Primarch83
Urael: I read this right after I was coming up with back story for Sevar and his Red Brethren. Reading what you wrote fits very well for my ideas and gave me a shark toothed smile When he is finished I will add in his small back story and here is his full names/titles I came up with. SEVAR THE BRINGER OF EXTINCTION: Captain of the Blood Wake, Serrated Maw of Ruin, Commander of the 3rd Fleet. Also I'm in the process of writing up a 1850pt list to play my buddies Iron Hands. When that battle happens I will post pics of Sevar carving his Forgemaster to pieces. cheers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291842-carcharodon-astra/page/3/#findComment-3722980 Share on other sites

Primarch83
My 3rd fleet captain is done and I wrote up a quick story. Annoyingly the original story was deleted because I'm a dummmmmy So your all stuck with a "less good sauce" version of it. SEVAR THE BRINGER OF EXTINCTION: Captain of the Blood Wake, Serrated Maw of Ruin, Commander of the 3rd FleetValac eyed the empty spaces surrounding the command table. Three Brethren gone: Ascynos, Keros and the once oldest living Brethren Hyrodion. Everything Valac knew about the "art" of lightning claw combat he learned from Hyrodion. A brother and a mentor dead. The other six Brethren milled about the command room, dealing with the loses in their own ways. Valac had never seen them like this and it showed the extent that their lord had changed in just one battle... It wasn't just any battle. Betrayed by those who lived under Imperium rule and the divine light of the Emperor. The 3rd fleet had protected and worked with them, the people of Larer. Ruling class of Larer to be specific. Traitor marines, Eldar pirates and Ork raiders had been destroyed or pushed from Larer space by the 3rd fleet and they had taken from the people's young to make up for loses. A union was created over the century that Sevar had grown to trust. Trust from a man who does not trust any but his own brothers. Trust lost in that battle.. Valac remembered Hyrodion calling a command briefing about Larer II's ruling province being overrun and the Larer's ruling class/military command begging for assistance. So assistance was delivered in the form of the entire 3rd.Drop pods slammed into the middle of a massive battle at the capital. Sharks swarmed amongst the confused traitors, hacking them down with ease. The Larer traitors were lead by marines in light blue armour fighting at the front of the conflict. Grey thunderhawks fell from the sky releasing transports and the Lord of the 3rd himself protected by Red Brethren. They moved in silence towards the traitor marines, killing and rallying forces along the way. With a flash the blue traitors were gone and allies attacked from all sides.Valac blinked away the thought of it and looked himself over. Blood covered his armour in amounts like it never had before. The rest of the Brethren looked the same from trying to protect Sevar as he climbed the Capital steps in a fury. Not relenting till all the men and woman in charge of Larer as a whole were dead. ten heads were collected by the Brethren, Sevar then ordered evacuation and bombardment of the planet. Now they sat in the command room as was customary after a campaign to bring together all information of man power and munition loss. Sevar would then give orders on replenishing those loses. Valac stared at the command table, its outside a large jaw of some underwater monster. The middle a solid piece of obsidian with scrimsaw carvings of the chapters history and makings as well as the names of former Red Brethren and Lords of 3rd. New names would need to be added. A hissing noise brought Valac's head up to see Sevar's chamber door open and the bringer of extinction walked out. Seven skulls hung from chains on this armour the rest were more than likely attached to his weapons. A look of pure killing intent shown on his face. "Report" is all he said in a voice of grinding gravel and thunder. http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b549/Corvuscorax83/af503ae3-2ffe-4c85-9089-7ca5ee4f69b6_zps8b6270df.jpg http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b549/Corvuscorax83/104db5c2-c169-4eeb-b172-b386a561799f_zpsd2f78b89.jpg http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b549/Corvuscorax83/a5421526-e4d1-4374-98f4-96d26f42bd2c_zps14852dd8.jpg http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b549/Corvuscorax83/c7255720-acb9-46bc-9da6-e224c8810b01_zps04c9311c.jpg http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b549/Corvuscorax83/5e62de9f-29c8-4770-af5c-6be045a4596f_zps0b7beeaa.jpg Cheers brothers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291842-carcharodon-astra/page/3/#findComment-3727435 Share on other sites

Blissful Brushes
Some awesome looking stuff in here mate. One thing that I would suggest that you do, however, is vary your blood tones a little bit. As it stands at the moment, all the blood that you've got is extremely fresh, not remotely congealed. I'd add a little bit of depth to some of it, a bit of black mixed into what I assume is BftBG to show deeper parts and drying/dried patches. I found that the odd bit of Burnt Umber mixed in can do the half-way house between the two as well; though I'm not sure what the citadel equivalent of Burnt Umber is, it's a dark brown at any rate. The grey tone is very nice indeed, I look forward to more! Primarch83
Uprising:Thank you sir! Blissful Brushes: I was thinking the same thing after I finished Sevar. Looking at the placing of the blood and the tones seemed off to me. I will take your advice and try it out. From now on the majority of whats getting painted wont have the amount of blood the Brethren and HQ's have. Small amounts here and there to help give the "elite" a more... ummmm Killy look Cheers Brothers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/291842-carcharodon-astra/page/3/#findComment-3728303 Share on other sites
