X Legion Banner - For Ferrus!

Hi Folks,

 

I've recently picked up the gorgeous Mk III command kit for my Iron Hands, just wondering how folks would suggest I embellish it - the focal point will be a brass etch Iron Hand from FW but I'm unsure of colours, other detailing etc so help is much appreciated.

Every clan symbol in miniature around the edge of the flag?

The T-shaped brace, with enough chains hanging from the top bar to create a curtain of steel chains, bolted together by small pieces of metal plates that together form the Legion symbol, articulated enough to stiffly wave around from the jerky motions of warriors and machines at war.

 

Edit: But Helterskelter's idea works too.

Thanks folks, I really like the idea of each clan's symbols around the edge, I'll also see about getting some of the blue instamold stuff to cast up some chainmail, at the least for the edging.

 

more ideas and comments are welcome as I won't be doing it for a while (going to have the banner pole going through the body of a Palatine Blade).

That's kinda tricky, as with each Clan being approximately equivalent to a chapter, there are probably anywhere between 50 and 100 Clans - and there are only 10 know Clan symbols from 30k ( although you'd have 12 with mine & Urza's :P )

 

Is it supposed to be the banner for a single Century, an Order, a Clan, or even the entire Legion? Because appropriate symbols will vary hugely

It would for the time being be the banner for Clan Arvanni as the majority of my force is terminators alongside Ferrus - I will (much later) do a stand-alone Legion Banner of appropriate size as an objective marker.

 

By all the clans I mean more in terms of those known (those 10), but would happily add yours and Urza's in (both of you have inspired me a fair bit).

Perhaps add a battered and dented Emperor's Children helmet to the top of the banner pole? :P
