@Spazmonkey - No joy this weekend then?  Someone told us in mighty saga's that the Vlka Fenryka were virile....

Ho hum....

I Know he isn't a patch on Iacton's but I thought I would share and get this thread up and running again for the glory of the ancient ones ! This is my version of the one and only Bjorn the Fell-Handed, named by Russ and my favourite character from The Rout bar none. I have always loved the image of Bjorn stomping out onto the battlefield and laying waste to all before him, I know he isn't always the most cost effective choice but sometimes you just have to go with it ! Reading The Battle of The Fang and being blown away by the story and Bjorn's role in particular gave me the final push to actually pick up the model from Forgeworld that I have always loved, plus a dreadfire arm for Bjorn's left arm, it may just be me but I find the default CC arm a bit weedy for such a legendary warrior happy.png Anyway enough rambling, after a solid 8 hours painting today here he stands ready to do battle in the name of Russ and the Allfather, hope he meets with your approval !

I love my SW Dreads;

Sadly I don't own this one now;

These 2 are very much still with me though;

Not sure what's going on with the above links/pics, hopefully PB will sort it shortly.

I was looking at a 9 dread list using the Champions of Fenris detachment.  Bjorn as an HQ, Murderfang and 7 others (a mix of venerable and regular, some melee some ranged antitank). Probably run two ben dreads with Bjorn for that formation (can't remember the name).  Murderfang is the only one in a drop pod, then add a couple of Stormfang gunships for mop up duties.

Thoughts? I can post my current idea if anyone is interested.

I think I'm going to go Dreadnought heavy just for the lulz of it. With Bjorn Formation and Champions FOC, we can go up to maximum of 11 Dreadnoughts. Add a budget HQ and presto! We've got a legal pure dreadnought spam! 8 Dreadnoughts + 2 in Bjorn's formation is 950 naked, plus Bjorn comes to 1170. Oh wait, Bjorn's formation has to be venerable so add 50 points to 1220.  Assuming we play 1500, that leaves enough points 5 Drop pods, assuming we reserve about 100 points for a HQ (maybe WG battle leader on TW). Maybe put 5 of them in drop pods while the remaining spare points can be used to upgrade the remaining 6 footsloggers. Bjorn can take a Hellfros cannon for anti horde, while the rest keep their multimeltas.

LOL, ridiculous but fun idea. At least I've got an incentive for new dreadnoughts now.

You can't use bjorn in the formation and as your HQ

Ok, I have to ask why. Granted I'm still coming to grips with 7th edition, as I stopped playing for a couple years (skipped sixth essentially).

But everything I am reading doesn't say this isn't allowed. Nothing in the formation text in CoF (that I see - maybe I am missing something?). Also nothing in Bjorn's text in the codex.

In the main rules, again I see nothing to say this isn't allowed. I see nothing in the section on Warlords that says no, nor anything in formations. In fact, under formations it says the models retain the same battlefield role they normally have - and Bjorn is an HQ. Wouldn't the other two dreads then just become like a retinue?

As I say, I may be missing something. What am I missing?confused.gif

Looking forward to putting an axe and shield on this chap.

This used to be my Bjorn, but given the new Bjorn model I think it might be time to scrub off his nameplate and relegate him to standard dreadnought status.

You said you were going to use the Champions of Fenris Detachment, which is fine, and it has its own FOC requirements. The Formation with Bjorn and two other Dreadnoughts is its own Detachment (see base rulebook for description of Formations, each is a special kind of Detachment). The Formation, because it is a Detachment of its own, cannot exist within another Detachment, so you'll have to meet your Champions of Fenris HQ requirement elsewhere. You could use Bjorn normally, because he is a valid HQ choice, but not if you're using him in that special Formation.

There is a thread pinned to the top of the forum that details how to Create Battleforged armies.

Thanks Val. I'll go over the rules and the thread again.

Putting up Pictures of Ulf.

Ulf03

Ulf04

Ulf is a Count as Bjorn. Björn is a Scandinavian name that means bear, so i thought itd be fun to name him Ulf, which also is a Scandinavian name that means wolf. Or something like that.
The runestones and terminator helmet i put there to account for Bjorns 13 front av. But ill probably use him as a venerable dread too, either in my Codex Marine army or Space wolves, it could also be to represent extra armor.
The runestone on the left, the one with not so much text, says: "Kejsarens fiender dör" which means "the emperors enemies dies". The one on the right with lots of text says: "Ulf reste denna sten för sina bröder nu vid kejsarens sida", which means "Ulf raised this stone for his Brothers now at the emperors side", which is to honor his fallen pack mates.
I used the elder futhark, so its not spot on with normal lettering, the elder futhark doesnt have all the modern letters i Think.
