Rogue Trader Fleet

I've been away from all Warhammer pretty much since the latest 40k edition came out, for various reasons.  Now I'm coming back and I'm very interested in having a BFG fleet (like so many others at the moment, it seems).

I want to go with a Rogue Trader fleet but, as I haven't played before, I'm here to ask about the list I'm contemplating.  It'll be made up of proxy ships to start, so model availability shouldn't be a problem.

The idea is list which goes from 500 - 1k points with a minimum of changes to the list:

500pts:

Carnage w/ Targeting Matrix

Endeavour w/ 6+ prow, 45 turn and a random Xenotech System

Two Escort Carriers

Two Armed Freighters

750pts:

Carnage w/ Targeting Matrix and Veteran Rogue Trader

Endeavour w/ 6+ prow, 45 turn and Advanced Shielding

Endeavour w/ 6+ prow, 45 turn and Advanced Shielding

Two Escort Carriers

Two Nekulli Whips w/ one random Xenotech System

1000pts:

Carnage w/ Targeting Matrix and Veteran Rogue Trader

Endeavour w/ 6+ prow, 45 turn and Advanced Shielding

Endeavour w/ 6+ prow, 45 turn and Advanced Shielding

Two Escort Carriers

Two Nekulli Whips w/ one random Xenotech System

Gothic Cruiser

Two Viper Destroyers

Any thoughts?

Having re-read some things, I am now not entirely certain on whether the Nekulli can be given Xenotech Systems or not.  Does anyone know whether it's allowed?

The list for 1,500pts, as I am told that that's the 'standard' size:

Two Carnages with Targeting Matrices and one Veteran Rogue Trader -- a big load of long-ranged firepower.

Two Endeavours with reinforced prows and Advanced Shielding -- the main line breakers / CQB element.

A Gothic Cruiser -- because I'm short on lances, probably going up close with the Endeavours.

Five Escort Carriers -- a cheap way to put ten squadrons in the sky, this should ensure that I get at least parity on the attack craft front(?)

Two Nekulli Whips with Advanced Shielding (if legal)  -- the cavalry, in charge of engaging any enemy who get separated and protecting the Carriers and Vipers.

Four Viper Class Destroyers with a Rogue Trader Cargo Vessel in tow -- hang back behind the main battle lines and send twelve torpedoes the way of anything too big for my cruisers to want to fight or any blobs, Cargo Vessel just makes them more likely to Reload successfully but I had 20pts to spare.

Five cruisers and 12 escorts (+10 attack squadrons and many torpedoes) seems rather more spammy than in the reports I've seen, but that's the vibe I picked up from the Rogue Trader list.
