It wasn't so much about hiding the progenoids from the Guardsman, though that was certainly part of it, (and I don't think poor Reikert would have any idea what he was seeing anyway) so much as it was an intensely private moment. I don't think they would let even a Marine from another Chapter watch, if they could help it. As far as Reikert knows, he's going to go back to his squad and say "Wow those Space Marines! They can even do surgery right in the field! I wish OUR medics were that good!"

And then get smacked by the commissar.
