Polythemus
Hi guys, I decided for my final ETL vow i'd do some DWT, DWK, and a company master. The one i'm looking for help with is the company master. I thought about using the Lord Executioner model since i wanted him to have a jump pack. In the end i decided to try and get creative with what I had availible. So here he is... I wanted to know what you guys think. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ViR6xBDigDs/U9B5SAr5buI/AAAAAAAAB4g/S6fPNKh0hIA/s1600/IMG_2027.gif Here we have Indomiel, Co. Master of the 4th company. The arms are magnetized, and I was thinking about magnetizing the jump pack. This loadout gives Idomiel 5 attacks on the charge and the chance to swing at initive 5 with strength 4 and shred, or Init 1 and strength 8. I've also modeled him with a displacer field (3++), the cloak of heros (shrouding while solo, and 5+FNP), and an iron halo. I used the legs from the ravenwing biker sergent. Unfortunately they look pretty wide apart but its not terrible if hes modeled to fly and rotated so that it looks like he's mid stride. The trouble I'm having is editing his bling. I wanted to give him artficer armor, so i'm not really sure how to present that. I'm not sure about his right sided pauldron. I could just make it a standard one and paint it with the symbol of the Company. Currently it looks a bit too mechanicus. HIs iron halo is a bit high up and it looks a little silly, i might chop out the DA symbol under it. Curious for any other suggestions you guys might have. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2_99b-nzfhY/U9B5SHVoAyI/AAAAAAAAB4Y/yQa2GwoV2Fg/s1600/IMG_2028.gif http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xovQzE5mRjc/U9B5TPEpdEI/AAAAAAAAB4o/drBHgvblwfE/s1600/IMG_2029.gif http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jkQm7FHTCnA/U9B5TbCI2JI/AAAAAAAAB4s/XdNk52hCGrc/s1600/IMG_2030.gif Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294176-modelling-feedback-needed/ Share on other sites
wheelballer
For me personally I think he's a bit too blinged out. The other thing that is throwing me off is the legs. Are they a set of Ravenwing robed legs? They look very awkward to me. Legs aside though I think he looks very nice. Can't wait to see him painted up. Liberame
yea the legs seem really off to me, I think I read somewhere that biker marines are dispraportionally smaller than the regular marines Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294176-modelling-feedback-needed/#findComment-3754564 Share on other sites
GreyCrow
If you have some spares, I'd suggest the legs of Vanguard Veterans. They're blinged out nicely and have a great pose ! Otherwise, I'm good with the bling, he's a Dark Angel after all :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294176-modelling-feedback-needed/#findComment-3754581 Share on other sites
elmo
For me he is a little over the top. I think of DA as being humble in their loyalty and not covered in bling like others. The legs are a problem. The biker legs are smaller and this added to the jump pack which bulks out his torso makes them look just wrong :( Vanguard veterans legs as GreyCrow suggests or maybe Grey Knights may work better. I would stick with fancy pauldrons like the ones from the RW Knights box. I would not have used the techmarine pauldron from the RW extras sprue on the rhs. Maybe add a few bits of parchment and swap the large RW banner tops with the smaller winged shapes from the same box. In the end it is your model to do with as you will but you did ask for advice ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/294176-modelling-feedback-needed/#findComment-3754702 Share on other sites
Space Truckin
as others have said - the legs look a bit off. Like perhaps he's just tripped over a stick / stumbling forward but it could be the camera angle. Do like the DA icon / iron halo thingy on his jump pack! JeffJedi
The legs are off and maybe they are too small. Give him Sang Guard legs to counter balance the size of the Powerfist and Lightning Claws. Plus he has a huge jumpack. All that makes him top heavy. Sang Guard legs would bulk up his lower body a bit. Polythemus
Thank you all for your feed back. Sadly there is no time to ebay for new legs. For now i'm going to switch him back to normal assault marine legs and just paint it up fancy to give a more artificer armor feel. I'll show the final product soon. For purposes of the ETL competition i'll call him done when I have three colors on him, but in actuality dude is gonna take a while to paint. Still Deciding on the Cape. It serves a nice shroud of Hero's functionality (which I'd be willing to try out in game, but im not sure it works for the model. Sadly there's no way gameplay wise to use the cloak without a jumpack when using a Co. Master. Will post up a revised pic in a bit. its-all-in-the-roll
Being 100% honest i think he looks to much, the legs kill it aswell. You can often go over kill when looking through a bit box i try to keep it simple as possible. Polythemus
So here's the latest update. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-B-B2MuS2APQ/U9fZxb2A3qI/AAAAAAAAB74/E57urCMZbB4/s1600/IMG_2035.gif All extras are magnetized so i can change his arms/weapon loadout in the future. The Jump pack and cape are also magnetized. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9vCx_BjYJhY/U9fZxkwvUdI/AAAAAAAAB78/3Texl3vRs2Y/s1600/IMG_2036.gif I figured the thing that looks like the upside down calculator could be his displacement field if I wanted to go that route. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2gi85hc44yY/U9fZyVSD1DI/AAAAAAAAB8M/SzWQHs-sta8/s1600/IMG_2037.gif http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PORB6qAYSrg/U9fZzR9DJ1I/AAAAAAAAB8Q/sQ-onZM5tQc/s1600/IMG_2038.gif The cape clearly needs an extra coat, and his company pauldron (shoulder pad) could use some touch ups. I was also thinking of making it half deathwing symbol to represent that afilliation. Name came out OK. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fQeIWxOLY3o/U9fZ0y8gjOI/AAAAAAAAB8g/h_rCvd6oO0A/s1600/IMG_2041.gif This ones a little too close, just wanted to show him without the cape. Whaddya think?
