Hounds of Demos WIP

Recommended Posts

So I recently split a box of Sanctus Reach and got the Space Wolf side. I originally thought I would dremel off the viking bits and paint them up as Crimson Fists. After taking a good look at the models though I can't bring myself to do it. They are too good but I don't want to play Space Wolves.

So its time to get creative.

1) I have to work around/with the Wolf imagery hence the reason for the name. Hounds of Demos is a chapter GW hasn't done anything with

2) I have always had a soft spot for the Iron Hands/ Sons of Medusa

3) I'm thinking going with a Celt/Welsh theme

4) I have two color schemes I'm thinking of going with

5) ??????

6) Profit

Sounds cool, doing a 'wild' IH Successor myself atm.

I like the schemes, although the first looks like it's more a Sons of Medusa Successor from the green (which feels a bit unlikely that they'd be used to form a new Chapter, given how they were formed themselves?).

I quite like the second one, it's got a definite 'Hound' feel to it. Is it brown or bronze, doing it as a metallic could be a nice way to get the IH feel across?

Edit: Something else I've done to try and tone down the wolfyness of the minis is to get some regular Tac/Assault/Dev boxes and just use one or two of the SW bits as accents on each model (pics in the last link in my sig if it helps any).

Looks good, although I must admit I've never liked the different coloured codpiece/legs look, always looks a bit Superman 'underwear over trousers' to me.

Just a passing thought so feel free to ignore, but if you're doing another test mini, how about trying the colour placement of the first scheme (which I like as it's more cohesive and also easier to paint) with the bronze instead of the bright green?
