What are we waiting for?

Recommended Posts

I'm 99% certain that we won't be seeing Morlocks - according to Alan Bligh they wore Gorgon Terminator Armour so they are basically Gorgons anyway.

That being the case, I'm just hoping for the Mastodon. It sounds like an awesome land transporter!

Since I doubt more Death Guard models will be released, more Legion rules, Rites of War, and traits would be awesome. Perhaps some Special Characters. I guess some of that will be coming in the next book this fall.

Sorry to say, it won't. Only part the Legions will play in the book is the narrative. That was confirmed at the weekender. Although we do get Legion-relics drool.gif

What?! No... No, I thought they said new Rite of War and Characters... No... NO... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

It's possible but I'd say extremely unlikely given the love the SoH and Death Guard have received already, anything more will be a royal slap in the face to those who have to do without. Any RoW I'd say would be generic to the Legions, not any in particular.

While it would indeed be something fo a slap in the face, I can see it happening. Conquest overall is annoying to me. It feels like FW are treading water, filling space and giving preferential treatment to those Legions already covered, while a third of the Legions are still waiting for any attention at all. While Prospero should be next, I'd accept Calth or a Signus/DA combo, something for the patient fans of the remaing six Legions. I've heard the 'they want to do Prospero properly so they're taking their time' reasoning, but to my mind that means they shouldn't be diverting resources to Conquest, as those resources would be better spent doing Prospero faster, or at least giving other Legions the spotlight.

I got lucky seeing as Angron was the Primarch I always liked most, had to wait a little for Horus but he came too. Really want tot see Russ and hoping for a Freki and Geri to go alongside. Do want to see the King of Terrors Konrad too but I've heard he's just round the corner. As for other models I quite want to see some Legio Custodes and Sisters of Silence just spice things up and see some non marines in the Heresy universe.

I know what you mean mate. The main reason I'm fine with Conquest is because I was lucky enough to have it explained to me in person by Alan Bligh and Andy Hoare. The way they outlined it, it fits narratively, it provides the opportunity to expand on concepts already floating around like shattered legion type lists and they get to do models outside of the core Legion framework.

Whilst that probably isn't what the players of the remaining 6 legions want to hear it does make sound sense. At the very least some of the stuff included will have an influence on the content of Prospero eg Solar Auxilia into Prosperine Spire Guard. And as someone else put it, the choice was "wait 25-26 months for a Prospero book or wait 36 months for it and have probably another 3 volumes out in the meantime"

Narrative wise - it's basically what the Sons of Horus and Death Guard do after Istvaan V, they cut a bloody path through the Galactic North while opposing them will be Mechanicum, Imperial Army and elements of the Iron Hands, Salamanders and Imperial Fists.

Game wise - It will contain elements of 3 battles, much in the same way Extermination had Istvaan V, Paramar and Phall. What those 3 are escapes me at the minute but I can remember one is the Conquest of Manachea, the games at the weekend were play tests of the scenarios that are going to be in the book. Also included will be a full on campaign builder for anyone who wants to put together something from the Great Crusade or other parts of the Heresy and this will have bits and pieces for character progression, resource management etc. Basically a fully emersive tool for creating a campaign. Legion Relics will be in - think a Paragon blade into overdrive - provides a bit of extra stuff for those without Legion rules thus far. There's the possibility of more characters being included for the Legions but none will get models - none of the Legions will get anything specific, possibly a generic unit/vehicle because......

The mechanicum are getting a nice bump. Having already seen the Triaros (and wanting one) they're going to enjoy some love and attention. Along with the Solar Auxillia who are a sub division of the Imperial Army. It's been promised that their rules and look will differ from the Imperial Guard (or Astra Militarum as your preference dictates) of 40k and including them means there's a launchpad to Prosperine Spireguard, Word Bearer cultists, other units of the Army etc etc

That's what was specifically said, there was bits and pieces hinted at or questions that got umms and ahhs but I won't put them here to avoid the inevitable Chinese whispering and consequent flame war

Also I'm pretty sure someone said that there wouldn't be sculpted shoulder pads for the Ultramarines/Dark Angels/Blood Angels/White Scars as there are already transfers doing the rounds for them so they can be converted with stuff already in circulation. Only other model question of note I asked was if the conversion bits for all 18 Legions would be released before the corresponding rules were published. That got me a maybe

I wouldn't really see it like that. I'm sure that FW intends to fluff the line with smaller campaign books like this, give the Legions more play style options and characters without actually having to worry about making stuff. They know we'll still buy the books for the new rules. I honestly hope the smaller campaigns become a common thing, it adds more diversity to each Legion and it allows FW to further diversify the 30K universe into it's own game proper.

I'm all for having more books with more campaigns etc in, if only to finally bury the mindset that after Istvaan there was a breakneck rush for Terra.

I don't mean to sound condescending or dismissive so please don't take this the wrong way, but it's an easier position to take when your Legion was covered from the get go. I've been fairly fortunate having mine in Massacre but this approach will needle those who have to wait.

I'm not saying it's a bad approach to take by any means, I'm all for it, but it's going to displease a great many people

I look at it this way, having to wait for BA Heresy rules gives me that much more time to save money to get the new shiny stuff they'll be releasing. I just wish that FW would take some time and catch up with models for stuff they have rules for.

Would anyone oppose me posting 'Sevatar' as my answer every single day until the day he's released? You know, for fortuitous reasons.

EDIT: Oh, and I guess I'll start now. I am waiting for Sevatar.

Every day you ask it's gets pushed back another day :D

Oh and I want a jet sled chariot for my praetor pulled by two Calibanite Lions-

I want a suitable bodyguard unit for Ferrus. Normal gorgons don't cut it.

As far as stuff outside the tenth go, I can't wait to see all the primarchs honestly. I wonder if Gulliman will look like captain Titus.

Plus, there are two Legionary profiles in Massacre, each being a member of the Avernii Clan in Terminator Armour (so they should both be Morlocks) and one's a Tartaros Termi & the other's in Cataphractii - I strongly suspect that each Morlock's armour is dependent upon the Century / Order they belong to.

Totally agree about the bodyguard Morlocks - the Gorgons are a cool upgrade unit, but not the rock-hard beasts you'd expect from Ferrus' bodyguard. Something like 'Conclave Tenax Morlocks' with twin Lightning Claws with some kind of integrated plasma / volkite weapon or a servo arm mounting a ranged weapon.

Not to be a Debbie Downer for you Iron Hands guys, but with Medusan Immortals, Gorgon Terminators, a character (Iron Father), a Primarch, and as the only legion to have your own unique tactical squad, I wouldn't be holding my breath for more anytime soon...

And yet we're in the next book whistlingW.gif

Kidding aside, I'm really not expecting anything for the IH's to be honest - but hopefully there will be some Legion-universal stuff with Conquest
