ixzion
Hi, A really long time ago I started a topic here and asked what people would think of having a contemptor with frag cannon count as a regular Fragioso. I have finally realized my idea (after way too much time), and I present to you the final result. What do you think? (Also it's my first time posting pictures so I hope I don't screw up too much) http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y441/ixzion/2014-08-13021457_zps638caf82.jpghttp://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y441/ixzion/2014-08-13021620_zpsf01b4145.jpghttp://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y441/ixzion/2014-08-13021642_zps514299eb.jpghttp://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y441/ixzion/2014-08-13021654_zps4cd63fd6.jpghttp://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y441/ixzion/2014-08-13021721_zps394ddf6c.jpghttp://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y441/ixzion/2014-08-13021737_zps380fb162.jpghttp://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y441/ixzion/2014-08-13021747_zpse605e38e.jpghttp://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y441/ixzion/2014-08-13021829_zps4ddac6e9.jpg The magna grapple and the heavy flamer are magnetized. I have a melta gun magnetized as well but it's not painted yet. Lord Commander Scrymgeour
that is awesome! how did you do the giant frag cannon? - I would let you use that as pretty much whatever you wanted! Candleshoes
Agreed, I would love a run down of the bits you used for the frag cannon arm - spectacular work. knife&fork
. What do you think? Everything except the grapple looks great. Considering how small the top of the contemptor is I think your best shot is to make it a single claw grapple. Cut away the motor and make a box of half the grapple, stick the wire somewhere on it. Should be able to fit quite nicely that way! marine7312000
I converted a magna grapple myself for my contemptor and used something similar to what knife&fork said but included both grapples mounted on some plasticard. I'm not 100% happy with it but it works. Definitely want the process of converting that frag cannon though. ixzion
Thank you for your kind words! The frag cannon is made from the contemptor multimelta arm, the actual frag cannon as well as some plasticard. I cut away the "shoulder" part of the frag cannon, so only the weapon itself remain. This leaves a hole which I covered with a piece of plasticard. I carefully sheared away the "targetting array" that is found on the top of the multi-melta. I was quite successful at this part, but some small parts of the "targetting array" got a bit damaged when I sheared it so I fixed it with some green stuff. To attach it to the multi-melta arm, I cut away the last part of the frag cannon by making a vertical cut straight down. On the multi-melta I did the same thing, but I only left the very last part of the weapon. I attached the frag cannon to what remained of the multi-melta and finally I built some kind of device on the side of the frag cannon for empty shells to fall out. I'm not sure if anyone was able to understand my description, but I could try to show some pictures tomorrow how I did it. Hopefullly those might clear up a thing or two :) @knife&fork: The magna grapple was a really tricky part. I think I know what you mean. I intend to build another contemptor like this at some time. I will take your advice into consideration and see what I can come up with :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295044-furioso-contemptor-dreadnought-with-frag-cannon/#findComment-3775070 Share on other sites
Xenith
I'd have possibly taken one of the grapple magnets, and put it into the centre of the fist, where the storm bolter goes, then added the winch further up the arm. The stormbolter/melta can be relocated to be underslung below the fist. But really, great work, it looks like he is holding a shotgun, which I guess he is, in essence. ixzion
As promised, here is a quick rundown how I did the frag cannon Step 1. Remove the front part from the multi-melta by cutting down the red line http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y441/ixzion/step1_zpsc23ade3e.jpg Step 2. Cut first away what is above the horizontal red line, then cut away the last part of the weapon to the left of the vertical red line http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y441/ixzion/step2_zps94c6f41b.jpg Step 3. Merge the two parts together http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y441/ixzion/part3_zps91a12985.jpg I'd have possibly taken one of the grapple magnets, and put it into the centre of the fist, where the storm bolter goes, then added the winch further up the arm. The stormbolter/melta can be relocated to be underslung below the fist. But really, great work, it looks like he is holding a shotgun, which I guess he is, in essence. That is a very neat idea! I might do that for the next one actually! At least when I imagine it, it looks awesome :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295044-furioso-contemptor-dreadnought-with-frag-cannon/#findComment-3778786 Share on other sites

Olis
Pretty sweet and singular, I'd say. Kudos on the conversion brother. :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295044-furioso-contemptor-dreadnought-with-frag-cannon/#findComment-3778830 Share on other sites
