Those sculpted abs are definitely going. Leg-wise, still unsure what he'll be getting, but I'll figure it out sooner or later. Perhaps I'll invest into some FW kits with cool leg poses, such as the Mk II Command set or the Legion Praetor in power/artificer armour. Also, I'm still looking for an appropriate weapon (Crozius or mace, unsure which).

As far as maul/Crozii go, roll with whatever looks more impressive - you're clearly putting a considerable effort into him, making sure he has a suitable beatstick is just icing on the cake. Are you recycling the basic concept as before with the open hand deal? Also, where did you get the open hand bit in the first place? : ?

Gah! I knew I had forgotten something this weekend! PM incoming, Thirst!

Back on-topic, I'm rolling with the same basic concept of him having an extended arm with an open hand. The hand itself came from the PA Grey Knights set, I believe. If you want a couple without paying stupid prices on bitz sites or buying the whole box, I've got a couple extra that I could part with. Just let me know :)

Concerning the Crozius/mace, I know it's not the most important piece. However, if the cherry on the cake isn't right, the cake as a whole just won't look as good. But then again, perhaps I'm over-thinking the whole thing :teehee:

I'd rather use the excuse to buy the whole box laugh.png As for overthinking things, the more thought and passion you put into something, the better it will hopefully turn out. Certainly produces better results than half-heartedly slapping a chaplain model together, so don't worry about... worrying too much? tongue.png

Oh, that red scorpion (I think) torso with the pose you were going for would look ace! That outstretched open hand makes me think of Bruce Lee's "bring it" gesture before he went ape censored.gif on suckas.

Any thoughts on a cape and some braziers?

Heh. Problem is, I ruined that torso while trying fiddle with it, so either I buy a new one or I find something else.

And no, I haven't really thought a cape or some braziers. I'm not sure I want the former, but the latter could be interesting.

Ludo, this guy needs his arms back!

You totally nailed the Battle-Preacher look the first time 'round, although I totally second the idea of having him stepping up onto something for maximum coolness. biggrin.png

I'll give him his arms back, don't worry msn-wink.gif The Battle-Preacher is definitely what I'm going with, though I'm still not sure on the legs.

Have him Step on a Traitor, Crozius/Mace resting in what remains of his head, giving a sermon to his battle brothers?

Hah. Awesome idea. Hum...

Have you looked at the power maul from the DV CSM? Might be more proportional. And I'll second having him standing with a foot on a beaten traitor.

I'll have a look into that. Thanks for the suggestion smile.png

I really like the basic gesture you had with the outstretched hand. I imagine him having his back leg raised as if stepping down a step or something with his left hand as you have it. As for the mace the DV one could work

Thanks for the food for thought. That particular leg pose would be cool, if tricky to get right.

Cool this just confirmed that my idea to have my chaos lord strutting around with stolen chapain gear is totally the way to go, was just going to use a skull helmet but now i need a badass crozius as well

Heretic!

I still really like the original mace. It was suitably brutal.

Thanks. I'll probably stick that mace on a Terminator Chaplain, as on a power-armoured figure, it looks too big.

My opinion (since you asked) - I like the open hand, the original mace (it looks awesome) and the second torso.

Open hand: quintuple check! Original mace: well, you might like the one below! Second torso: Almost check! tongue.png

First two pictures had a "Join me or die" feel to them. I like the open hand it looks like he's delivering a sermon to his enemies before he sends them to the Emperor to beg for forgiveness.

Open hand: sextuple check! biggrin.png

+ + + + + + +

Now, I've decided to ressurect this topic as I am going to start working on this Chaplain again after a prolonged period of doing nothing with the poor chap. To start, I've got a new Crozius to share with you all, though I need your help to choose between option A, option B, and option C:

A.

B.

C.

I'm leaning slightly more towards B, but I'm still undecided, so feedback is sought and much appreciated smile.png

Hmmm...well having used C to make a paddleum myself, I have to say that it's too 'delicate' in shape to really sell the idea.  So whether A or B, well...B has a skull.  And y'know, Chaplain, skulls and such.  But the crux on A means he's a really important skull.

...B

nothing says Imperium as a giant eagle smacking people.

I'll see your wager, and raise you a giant chainsaw eagle.

There was actually a conversion similar in concept to that a few years back. Two axe heads from the Berzerker kit, flipped upside down and put back to back with a wheel/crest thingy covering the join. Very effective. Lacking in Gothic artistry, but I imagine you could slap some simple wing design over the flat bits, and leave the teeth to serve as the wings' edges.

But for a more traditional route, yeah, B. biggrin.png

Thanks for the feedback, chaps (and chapette ;))! I've gotten a bit more done than the Crozius and the Chaplain is now at a stage where I can show him without peope rolling their eyes at yet another picture of a head+torso :D

So, here's what he looks like at the moment:

I cropped out the Crozius, as keeping it in the picture meant that there was a large empty space in the bottom left-hand corner that was really bugging me.

He's far from being finished, but I'm satisfied with the pose he's got. Just need to find a second shoulder pad for him, along with some pouches and a backpack!

I like the way you think, Firepower :P

Back on topic, Dosjetska that torso looks much better than the previous one.

Hmm, the legs are looking a little plain.  Pouches are one method, but if you want to go baroque, look into the tiny reliquaries from the Gray Knights kits.  They make nice decorative pieces, and very Chaplain-y.  You could also go with books, like the sort you can find in the WHFB Empire(?) range.  Or bones in general.  Or rozarius/cruxes.  There are lots of decorative bits to choose from really :)
