Kreghor's Project Log

Recommended Posts

In an attempt to clean up the hobby room and get back into the hobby proper after a long absence, I thought I might start up a log to track my progress.

Good to see the B&C is as strong as ever.

To keep the motivation up, I signed up for the Escalation League at my local GW, along with attempting to enter the finished army into Armies on Parade in October as well. Sorry for the quality of the pics, I will attempt to take ones with my actual camera as I progress.

First up is a pic of my work station after moving piles of junk off it.

Current Work in progress of my Display Board

And the First wave of my Mechanicum army ready for basing.

Nice Start.

Thanks deathspetersgt7.

Unfortunately progress has been slow this week due to illness. I have managed to get the Magos and Thallax based and ready for undercoating.

I am planning on using the colour scheme of Taghmata Satarael pictured on pg 213 of HH Extermination.

If anyone has some tips on black armour look battle damaged, let me know.

I based the Magos to help him stand out a bit more. Hopefully it worked.

The first Thallax squad. I will be painting the arms seperately so I can get to those hard to reach places.

Looking good. Glad to see a Mechanicum army here on the B&C; seems like they're not some of the more popular factions out there.

As for battle-damaged black armour, have a look through the Tutorials sub-forun and/or post a thread asking about this in the General PCA Questions sub-forum. You're bound to find something :)

Been a while since my last post, thankfully have been able to make some progress. The Thallax are nearing completion after a major change to the paint scheme halfway through. It is all starting to come together, with only some minor highlights and the basing to finish.

Meanwhile I decided to make a start on the Magos. I think I might have gotten the hang of painting red.

There's a few of us, (my knight/mechanicus army can be seen via my signature :) ), and good to see more!

It'll be interesting to watch this one grow through the escalation.

Been a while since my last update. Unfortunately real life has gotten in the way of making substantial progress on my army and display board. Thing have been progressing, with the Magos and Thallax finished, and the Castellax nearing completion.

Time for a progress update on the Castellax. Only some minor details and the bases to be finished.

I love the thallax!

Thanks, I am really pleased with how they turned out, especially the bases.

And fresh reinforcements have arrived from the forgeworld!!!

Cool terrain and mechanicum army, are those robots, fluffwise? Or do they have a human brain? Are they similar to marines in stats and such?

Nice "meld" of city terrain and the landing pad, looks good. Good painted too.

Edit: perhaps its called kitbash...

Been a while since my last update as work has been pretty full on. Progress has been made, the Castellax have been finished, and work has been progressing on the next units. I even managed to finally sneak in a game (first since 5th edition, so been a while between drinks) and walked away with a surprising win.

Thanks Token, the rules for the Thallax and Castellax are much better than marines. Tough as nails, muti-wound, and more special rules than you can poke a stick at. From a fluff perspective, only the larger automaton are robots as such. The thallax have a lobotomised human brain, along with the central nervous system inside, so they are the next step up from battle servitors.

The Castellax were the star of the match against the Iron Hands, personally accounting for over 60% of enemy kills. Other unit of these is on the cards for sure!!!

Those are some dead sexy models there brother.  Very nice.

I must ask what is your recipe for the brass/gold on the weapons and heads?  I know this might be blasphemy towards the Omnissiah.  It would look great for my Necron Warscythe blades.  hmmm?  Maybe even Dispersion Shields!

hushrong:

It was a pretty amazing game. I did not think I had a chance when he deployed two Sicaran's and a Cerberus. If it was not for the over performing Castellax, I am sure it would have turned out very different. At that is only half the fleet, there is a full SM fleet awaiting to be assembled as well. I am thinking that these will be my next project.

Warlord Torvold:

Thanks! the brass/gold is very basic, as I am keeping the scheme simple. I started with Chaos Black, followed by Brass Scorpion. Over this there is a drybrush of Gehenna's Gold. Then a good application of Agrax Earthshade. It is a much heavier application is required for the Brass look.

Here is my current progress on my Myrmidon Secutors

And a sneak peak on little side project I have started on:

Great start!

Always makes me happy to see a new Ad Mech plog get started with flying colors.

Definitely excited to see what you do with that Thanatar.

Also, always neat to see a workspace pic, back in post one. It amuses me greatly that you have a framed portrait of Harry the Hammer keeping vigil over your painting :D

I really like the simplicity of the scheme! I do wonder if you could up the brightness on some of the line highlighting in places, I can see it on the red but less so on some of the black regions - again, I know the intent is that simplicity - I just wonder if it'd help kick it up a gear further, on what are some already great models!

Been a while since my last update. The Thanatar has been undercoated and painting has started.
