So I accidentally made a Land Raider Helios tonight....

Still not too sure how I managed it but yeah as the title says I now have a Land Raider Helios built out of an unpainted raider I have and a rummage through the bitzbox. This was completely unintentional but I now have a model that will be used in my fists.

 

Has anyone suffered from this possession by inspiration and ended up with a model they weren't expecting?

To fix it, if your gaming buddies are willing you could use it as a "counts as" land raider.

Naw I was wanting to use Helios to combine a template weapon with a chassis which won't crumble as much in my local meta. It a land raider and a whirlwind in one heavy slot! Plus I've built it in such a way that the launcher and scanner comes off, the heavy bolter goes back on and it a normal raider again.

 

The small transport capacity is a problem but it would be fine for a small squad of sternguard or a close combat captain and his command squad. Or even just a techmarine to keep it going.

I'd probably just give it a techmarine and use it as backfield support that can easily withstand any deepstrikers.

I got a little carried away putting together my first models (the tactical squad box) and glued both arms onto the rocket launcher marine. Not quite sure how I'm going to paint him now...

Once out of pure boredom I built a Techmarine Dreadnought model out of one of those old metal Dark Angels dreadnought. The thing was beaten and had some messed up parts. So I made it work by covering those places up with enhanced augmetics and a larger servo harness on the back. In the front he has a techpriest hood drooping over the carcophogi and a load of mechadendrites hanging out of the bottom of the carcophogi. He also carries a makeshift axe made of plasticard and some old gundam pieces (DeathScythes Scythe was put to great use here) It turned out really great and I field it as an IronClad dreadnought in my Iron Snakes army.
