GodEmperorOfMankind
Well as my two friends whom I regularly play Warhammer with had a game of Space Hulk and didn't invite me today (sob sob, why does no one like me!!) I decided to give it a run through myself. I enjoyed it actually, though it's probably a little easier without having a sneaky opponent laying traps and trying to get around me. Nevertheless, here are the first two missions: I - Beachhead This wasn't covered in much detail, as I only started taking photos once I got into it and thought I'd show my mates I don't need them ;) Hairy moment turn 3, when Leon ran into a room full of stealers: http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg586/clarkus-maximus/IMG_20140927_185342_zpskkedaegk.jpg Luckily I had 6 command points and a shedload of ammo ;) Turn 4 saw Sergeant Lorenzo's storm bolter jam in the face of oncoming stealers. http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg586/clarkus-maximus/IMG_20140927_185351_zpsgdx32c5d.jpg Thankfully he was up to the task and dispatched them with his power sword, clearing the left flank. by turn 5 I was beginning to wrap things up: http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg586/clarkus-maximus/IMG_20140927_185906_zpsjluloaw9.jpg Sergeant Gideon held the right flank beautifully, stomping the alien menace, with Zeal's heavy flamer and Leon's assault cannon taking centre stage and the bulk of the stealers. the rest of the squads doing little. Victory belonged to the marines, with not a single casualty. II - Suicide Mission With permission from Command (my girlfriend was happy for me to continue playing with myself), I began the second mission with gusto! Area Secured, Two Members of squad Lorenzo cover a stealer entry point as the others move out to the control room http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg586/clarkus-maximus/IMG_20140927_201417_zpsxsgq6fgi.jpg Blips around the corner, nothing the squad can't handle though: http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg586/clarkus-maximus/IMG_20140927_201719_zpsjvc6dm7i.jpg Meanwhile Goriel is left to cover the entry point as Deino follows the rest of the squad, and a fine job he does too, as the stealer bodies mount up: http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg586/clarkus-maximus/IMG_20140927_203657_zps5qj3gm2k.jpg Turn 6/7 sees me get cocky though, and the alien menace punish me for my mistake in thinking I could move valencio up closer to the junction point, killing both him and Deino. http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg586/clarkus-maximus/IMG_20140927_203706_zpsfx2wcjgl.jpg However some stirling work from Sergeant Lorenzo restores my faith in the Emperors finest, and we're back on track, with Goriel leaving sentry duty to reinforce the remains of the squad: http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg586/clarkus-maximus/IMG_20140927_203958_zpsy1gwuse4.jpg However the alien scum had lulled me into a false sense of security, it was a trap! http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg586/clarkus-maximus/IMG_20140927_204514_zpsxmajusrc.jpg Sergeant Lorenzo fought bravely, but was overwhelmed by the sheer weight of numbers: http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg586/clarkus-maximus/IMG_20140927_204805_zps5k0xdrfy.jpg Things were looking dark indeed, but Zael saw his chance to make it to the control room and cover his "passage" as it were: http://i1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg586/clarkus-maximus/IMG_20140927_205104_zpstzwhhi1h.jpg Goriel was moving up by this point to help clear the infestation, and the next turn I drew 6 command points, allowing Zael to turn around, open the door, and incinerate the control room. Wrath of Bruinen
Great stuff! I find Space Hulk is actually really fun to play solo - genestealer moves are often such a no-brainer that they can almost function as an AI. To add to the tension and suspense, I don't look at blips when I draw them. That way I can surprise myself when they're revealed!
