Tiger9gamer
would it be better to have an inquisitor as a warlord for the zombi-killing ordo or should I go pure IG? WarriorFish
I think pure IG might be better, but for fluff reasons an Inquisitor turning up to prepare the defences against a zombie incursion would be cool :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297421-zombie-hunting-regiment/page/2/#findComment-3822880 Share on other sites
Kilofix
I think pure IG might be better, but for fluff reasons an Inquisitor turning up to prepare the defences against a zombie incursion would be cool Begs the question - Ordo Malleus, Ordo Hereticus? Ordo Xenos even? Also - hope you don't mind if I steal your Zombie idea for my Halloween diorama. WarriorFish
It could be an Inquisitor specifically turning up to face this threat, or one who happens to be on the planet when it hits so it could be any Ordo. That's the beauty of the Inquisition, you can justify pretty much anything  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297421-zombie-hunting-regiment/page/2/#findComment-3823001 Share on other sites
Cap'm Heckus
Priests! Zombie hunters need priests to keep spirits up. Flamers, heavy flamers, and hellhounds for sure. EDIT: I did this for shotguns (got the idea elsewhere): I think you can just see them in the back row. Cap'm Heckus
I'd also like to see tattered uniforms and bloody bandages. Poppin' zombies aint easy. cypherthefallenangel
Basilisks will make the zombie player pick up models by the bucket full. 9 Basilisks with some infantry platoon support and a few armored sentinels for tar pitting would do the trick. WarriorFish
To be fair, Bassies do that to most players :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297421-zombie-hunting-regiment/page/2/#findComment-3823556 Share on other sites
CoffeeGrunt
Wyverns would be better suited to that role, though Bassies are very cool. (That massive minimum range makes them too awkward to play for me, though.) Thoqqu
Just read the fluff bit for banewolf... I suppose instantly flesh melting virulent gas could do the trick... considering it melts spacemarines all the same. WarriorFish
Wyverns would be better suited to that role, though Bassies are very cool. (That massive minimum range makes them too awkward to play for me, though.) Direct fire still works right? Banewolf will melt the faces off zombies well, including melting everything else they have too :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297421-zombie-hunting-regiment/page/2/#findComment-3823585 Share on other sites
Wade Garrett
Personally, I'd go with a Feudal World Regiment led by Lord Commissar Ashley Williams. CoffeeGrunt
Zeds will still get that FNP though. I once debated doing a full Chaos list of counts-as zombies using Mutilators, Plague Zombies and other applicable units. minigun762
I wouldn't be overly worried about the FnP denial if you can compensate with rate of fire. A heavy bolter will knock down just as many zombies as an autocannon for example. Chimera seem perfect for this army, good weapons and the little side guns will see actual use. Multi laser Sentinels might be the perfect counter, as they'll easily kill them at range and can kite them around the board. Plus you're safe even if they do assault you. Could use armoured versions for a more realistic theme. Lastly I think a Valkyrie would be fun. Rocket pod death. CoffeeGrunt
Oh yeah, but the Hellhound is cheaper, has Torrent and an Instant-Death Flamer against T3 models. It'd let you keep your distance from the hordes. Tiger9gamer
All great ideas! the guard ideas are slowly coming together. Going to make a larger list with just vets and guardsmen. I'm thinking that the world they come from is still civilised but with zombies a constant threat so things like wyverns are better for less colateral damage. is that a good idea? Uprising
First this is the threat you face http://nockergeek.net/media/games_day_2013/AoP_zombie_attack.jpg Also please avoid flame throwers. Zombies=bad, Zombies on fire=worst. Also plasma and high strength weapons are useful because they would outright destroy zombies but usually have plague marines and death guard behind them, so that would help. Captain Tezdal
I think pure IG might be better, but for fluff reasons an Inquisitor turning up to prepare the defences against a zombie incursion would be cool :) Begs the question - Ordo Malleus, Ordo Hereticus? Ordo Xenos even? Also - hope you don't mind if I steal your Zombie idea for my Halloween diorama. Ordo Sepulturum, the Ordo minoris dedicated to fighting the plague zombie infection would probably work. Tiger9gamer
gameplay wise which inquisitor would be the best for the zombie guys? Malleus, Xeno or Herectus? WarriorFish
Depends on what you want to do, and probably best asked in the Inquisition section. In fact I asked for Inquisitor builds just earlier today if you want to join in :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/297421-zombie-hunting-regiment/page/2/#findComment-3824644 Share on other sites

Cap'm Heckus
Purely from a fluff perspective, A zombie hunting army also needs special weapons teams. Squads of demo and flamer guys cleaning up spots of hard zombie resistance. Possibly snipers in high places providing cover fire. Sentinels. Ok, I just like sentinels in any list. Command squads should have medics to "treat" those who get bitten. Maybe carapace.
