Thanks chaps!

And I finally saw the visions article in my local GW today. I don't think the quality of the pictures really help the minis at all :D

I'm not amazing at painting but I think the photography process has sold some of the models short. Not all, some of my army is old and bad :D

I am not blaming the White Dwarf staff here, I think the magazine format kinda ruins the quality, but hey ho, I might be wrong. Maybe I just have rose-tinted glasses!

I have recently (foolishly) agreed to take part in the Tale of Warlords event that is occurring in White Dwarf. I chose to restart my Ultramarines! This was for two reasons. One - Guilleman. Enough said. Two - They are pretty easy to paint.  This means I can churn them out at a reasonable speed and the new models can replace my very very old ones! :D

This is the first of them, the squad sergeant.

Here is the finished version of my Guilliman too. Seems like I forgot to post it here when he was done.

Nicely done! Your paintjob is really amazing!

The only thing that would bother me would be the marksman bolter round on the left shoulder guard. If he is holding his arm like that the bolter round should be at another angle. But that is just the perfectionist in me. :D

I hear ya Lumpy!

It doesn't look too bad from a slightly different angle, but it is still odd. I just don't have time to fix it. In something of a rush! :D

Another one finished!

I should really have painted the plasma gun's coils green as opposed to teal. But too late now!

I need to clean the legs up, bit of brown got on there whilst basing, but I will do that on all the models when they are finished.

That's three done!
That's right, five marines finished!

To break up painting the tactical marines, I am working on my Terminator Captain next.

Yeah! :D

One of my biggest self criticisms is that I paint painfully slowly. Now that's fine for the most part, but when it comes to army painting it sucks.

I refuse to just drybrush everything. I think it looks awful. But I can cut corners on things like decals and weapons and such. And as you say, I can return to these guys when they are done.

However, my plan with my ultras going forward is to try and focus on the new mark X models. I just think they are superior in every way. :D
