WiP: Gerantius (Complete!)

So I started on my second Knight. Having finished Amaranthine, I am now starting on Gerantius!

First up, the base. I used some Templar Ruins wall pieces from Scibor and then scattered piles of Secret Weapon 1/48 scale bricks on superglue.

Next, I scattered some single bricks around then spread Mod Podge all over and sanded it.

Then got him assembled to the point he was ready for primer.

Last step... I put sticky tack on all the glue points so they wouldn't get sprayed over. I did that on Amaranthine and it ended up being a pain trying to get it all to glue together afterwards.

Right now the primer's drying, and then the main body will be sprayed with Tamiya Gun Metal. More to come.

It is PVA, but it's thinner than Elmer's to start. Not as thick. Plus a big container of it runs about $6 and will likely last me a decade. Lol.

Mod Podge is just PVA glue? You're kidding me... All those scrapbookers are being lied to! :D Seriously, I didn't know that.

Alright, got more work done on Gerantius.

Got him base coated with Tamiya Gun Metal and got the sticky tack off him.

Got the greens on him next.

Next was gold and edge highlighting and recess shading.

Almost done. I realized that I forgot the apron on the sprue, so I have to get that painted and attached. Then attach the face plate. After that it's just base painting and decals.

Gerantius is complete! This picture was taken before I finished the base. I will have to get a picture of the model with the base fully painted and decorated.

And here he is along with Amaranthius.

This is my 750 point list for an upcoming Escalation Tournament at my local GW. Yes, I am doing an imperial Knight army. Yes, so I'm apparently going to be "That Guy". :) I also got confirmation last Friday from FW that my Castigator is on it's way, so I will be starting up on that when it gets here.

He is. I will be running him as a plain ol' Errant until later in the Tourney then I'll bump him up to the named stats.

I finished off the base last night. Here's a close up.

Oh, and no weathering. I totally suck at it. If I tried, it'd ruin the model. :P

My process is: 1) prep surface with gloss paint (Ardcoat), 2) put down Microset, 3) place decal, 4) more microset over top, 5) after dry and set, go over with Ardcoat again, 6) Matte coat.

I find the gloss paint really helps to fill the "gap" between the edge of the decal and the surface.

That's not bad, yeah. I use Microsol after they're down. I think I'll try the 'ardcoat after the decal. Makes sense to me.
