Started in on the December Mini of the Month. Did a helmet and power pack swap. This will be a Vulture Marine serving in the Deathwatch.

Base colors down only so far:

Monument Hobbies Flat Black Spray Primer
GW Chaos Black for the body
Iron Wind Metals Steel (I've got some really old paint lines in the drawers) on the DW arm.
VMC 814 Burned Red for the bolter casing.
Ral Partha AD&D Paladin Blue for the base.
Iron Wind Dark Brown for the leather.
VMC 856 Light Orange for the Chapter pad.

Camera work sucks. Eyes may need glasses at this point but this year the plan is to push through and get some skills back.

Yet another skill set that it will take some time to regain. These old Vultures decals were made long before Phobos/Reiver armor came about. So they are a little big for that pad.

Some thin sections (like the Vultures neck) certainly add to the difficulty level for me right now. Too many years away.

It will get better. I do have 3D pads but I need the decal practice.

Now that Raptor head certainly takes me back! It actually looks really good on the modern kit! I do enjoy a bit of retro! Shall have to find something similar in my bits box!

I've set a few helmets aside to slap onto that Nightlords Raptor Killteam when it is released!

Deathwatch Veteran of the Vultures Chapter.

Well...first completed mini in...years. many years. Lots of work to do yet to continue rebuilding skill sets but the ground work is there.

Camera work feels a long way off. I have old digital cameras I can maybe try. My phone is 6+ years old and I no longer have proper lighting. That will all come in time.

This mini was the free Deathwatch mini from December. Helmet and backpack swap.

The adrenaline was wearing off and Cadmus could feel the fatigue beginning to set in. The other boy, who had completed the trials, was slowly turning pale as the life drained from him.

The giant in black ceramite, with a skull for a face, leaned in close to Cadmus.

"Send this one, to the Skinners."

The OrksBane were founded in the 5th Founding. Their Chapter symbol, the Mailed Fist of Dorn in green.

Over the millenia, the customs of the home world population began to set in the Chapter.

In time, only the Scouts of the 10th Company {the Skinners} and Company banners bore the Mailed Fist.

Those elevated to the status of Brother, having gone out on their final mission as a scout to kill and skin an Ork. It's visage then stretched over the Chapters pauldron.

This is one of the two minis for @grime.time.painting
Army From One project. Time to start the 2nd one tonight.

Started in on the base for mini #2 for the Army From One Project from grime.time.painting on IG (phase 2 starts in March FYI).

This one should go faster than the OrksBane as I won't be figuring out recipes as I go. Mostly.

The subtle changes to the model are great!

The Older RTB style back pack, the Studded Shoulder pad, and the pose of sliding over the concrete shooting the plasma pistol!

The wife had gone to give the 3 year old a hair cut and put the clippers down right on top of it when it looked like this:

It snapped the hand in half. The resin is pretty brittle and as I attempted some form of repair it just kept shattering up the arm so I had to make some changes in that regard in order to keep it stable. Worked out I think.

Mini no. 2 for the Army From One project from @grime.time.painting

Check out his story for maybe a sneak peak of Year 2 (coming soon).

Vultures Chapter Marine, 10th Company (scouts), 3rd squad.

With these one off type minis I've been doing some experimenting. Some things worked. Some didn't. Some I haven't decided on yet.

The orange definitely turned out different from past variations of my Vultures, but I like it!

Photography is still ass. Half tempted to dig out my Canon PowerShot G9 and put it to work over this old Pixel 5 potato camera.

Going to let this cook for a few days then it will be time to vote to see which of the 2 minis goes back to Grime Time.

Next up: Blood Angel Successor for @the_apothecarion project.

The next project begins! My Blood Angel Successor Chapter, the Impalers and their Chief Apothecary.

This is for the charity project organized by @the_apothecarion over on IG.

I've used bitz from:
Aetheon Shann
Primaris Dante
Space Marine Primaris Apothecary
First Born Sanguinary Guard

Spearhead from some Zvezda Undead Romans

Rubble from @galeforcenineofficial

I'm still not sure about the winged spear on the right greave. I've brushed prime it but I'm hesitating to start. I keep feeling the urge to clip the winged spear off. I tell myself it will look better once it is painted.

That's a really cool conversion.

I too am not keen on the wings on his leg - the model is busy enough without it, and it makes the models legs look imballanced.
