bleedcrimson
I'm currently looking at building my own Honour Guard squad from bits from ebay. While pondering my load outs, i got to wondering whether to use power swords for more attacks at I4 or do i use power axes and strike at I1. With only having 1 wound i feel nervous striking last. What are you thoughts? Any feedback is welcome!
Toldavf
What the local melta? If its a large squad take 2 axes 2 maces then the rest as swords gives you ap 2 in a pinch and some high strength concussive. Realy you should avoid any 2+ saves kill them with shooting instead. WarriorFish
It's fine as long as you're not taking only axes. With a 2+ save most enemies that will be going through it will be striking at I1 too, and if they're not you won't be sending your Honour Guard against them ;) HG as best slicing through heavy infantry so the axe should be a backup just in case and for a bit of extra strength - something like 1 axe per 3/4 other weapon works well. A mace or two is worth considering if you have a larger squad but generally it's best to take swords for utility I think so you can strike at initiative and go through MEQs.
