Well, haven't posted on here in a long time so I just want to show off some of my minis I have painted this last year.  Even with the new codex, I find a reason to stick with my Templars and hold strong!  Let me know what you think! I am always looking for new tips!

Black Templars have only one friend, and he is the Emperor.  And their swords.  2 friends!  The Black Templars have 2 friends, the Emperor, and their swords.  And fire.  3 friends!

...the comfy chair!

Alright, now that I got the stupid out of my system, I'm really digging these.  Unfortunately the GK pics are a bit washed out.  Choosing a warm shading instead of neutral for the Mentor's white was an interesting decision, and I think it worked out rather well.  Browns are nicer with the greens.

Now the stars of the show: you do a damn fine job with your whites and reds for the most part, but the silvers and especially the golds are pretty monotone, and look a bit thick.  Maybe try thinning a bit more and using some washes?

Good work.  Make more! :)

Thanks man! Yeah, my GK pics are a bit washed out, when I get home I will be able to take some better ones.  As far as the gold, I have recently just changed my method on painting it and I am always looking for better ways to do it.  As much as I love putting gold on my minis, it gets tough sometimes.  Either it is too thin and won't go on right, or it is too thick.

Gold always seems to come out best for me when I use layers of browns and yellows instead of a metallic. Silvers on the other hand just look grey when I try that rolleyes.gif. $.02

It;s not the best shot, but this is the only one I already have uploaded with any gold. That eagle is a base of white with several layers of yellow (bad moon iirc is the old GW name, no idea on the new stuff). Once the yellow is right for the shade you want wash it brown then highlight with the original color then up through bone (bleached bone?) then straight white on just the most prominent bits.

I've also been playing around with "chrome" gold which looks really sweet from the table top level, but doesn't quite show up as well when zoomed in. You can however see the layers used to make it look shiny. This works well for large flat areas like the cross on my test dummy ^. The process is pretty much just like a standard nmm chrome, but with yellows and browns.

Not sure if I am a fan on the NMM style for gold.  I have tried it before and it didn't turn out too well.  But thanks for the idea! So, I found some more things to put up!  Here ya go!

I know he doesn't have a hand...I did it for a buddy of mine and...I don't think I ever got a pic with him and and his hand. =\
