Best ADB Books

The only books of Adams that i remember with any clarity is savage weapons, betrayer, talon and the emp's gift. Which

I enjoy reading his art, but like most BL authors the endings kinda, well suck.

Most BL authors if you give them 3 books to write about something, or even 1 in some case's, they run out of puff halfway through the second/first one. I hope the Abbadon series doesn't.

Favourite's would be Ian Watson's space marine and inquisitor (not just bolter porn), and Simon Spurrier's xenology. Both of which still stand up today.

Just finished The Emperors Gift. Enjoyed it up until they

started fighting with the SW. Slowly lost interest in the otherwise awesome book.

I reread One Hate and At Gaius Point several times a year. I still dont understand how people can fit so much awesome in so few pages.

And ya, Helsreach. Best of the series and one of my favorites from BL.

What about that part of the book made you lose interest?

All of it. I didn't want to read about the GK fighting loyalists. I wanted to read about the GK fighting demons. I wanted more on their duel with angron. The fact that the SW were wrong just made it worse. The inquisition had the right idea even if they executed it poorly. Just made me want to hurry and finish the book when before I hoped it wouldn't end.

In order

1. Talon of Horus

2. Helsreach/Blood and Fire

3. The First Heretic

4. Betrayer

5. Night Lords Trilogy

6. Emperor's Gift

7. Cadian Blood

He is honestly the best of the BL authors, hands down. He is also the patron of the Warhammer Bald, Bearded Master Race.

Not sure on the order, but I will say nobody else makes me want to build an army, simply by virtue of their writing.

I dont know how I could order them but I built Word Bearers due to TFH, I built Night Lords due to the the Trilogy and built HH World Eaters due to Betrayer. I think Betrayer is likely my number 1.

If the my wallet and/or Credit Card could keep up, I'd play every army he ever wrote for.

Talon of Horus, just finished it.

I don't usually read Chaos based books, but I was gripped from the start, I loved the way the honesty of the story teller comes across.

I really enjoyed the contemptuos speed at which the final fight with the clone Horus was written, a big build up and yet so little in the way of writing about the fight.

I also really liked the painting of the chaotic nature of the nine legions and the area and times they live in.

This story has beaten my previous favourite (Helsreach) into second place, can't wait to read the second and third installment.

I've just finished Blood and Fire, which after a bit of a slow start was excellent. Definitely worth reading if you enjoyed Helsreach!

Quick review of it here if anyone's interested :

As far as I'm concerned, he's not written a bad book. I've enjoyed them all :)

I freely admit that despite my dislike of the ending, after a few re-reads I actually enjoyed the Talon of Horus a lot more then most Shakespearin works, and I look forward to investing in more of his books.

I feel like Khayon has a lot of gravitas to him as a character, and to a lesser extent so do his companions. Even if I don't agree with the overall assessments of him, I do like whenever someone does a little character study of him in the book. I feel there's a lot of flexibility there, and something that will probably only be expanded as the series goes on.

Just finished, not sure I have any complaints really. Some of the wording's bother me while I process what it means to my personal interpretations of the Warp, but the book itself, I have no issues with, and in fact loved.

Add it to the list of armies I've started due to ADB...
