Brother-Sergeant Bohemond
Yea, what you said is what I was trying to say :) By Loss, I meant the manner of the loss rather than the physical loss itself Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299285-da-identity-in-the-new-codex/page/6/#findComment-3872460 Share on other sites
Firepower
Yea, what you said is what I was trying to say By Loss, I meant the manner of the loss rather than the physical loss itself Are you sure? I hear Caliban had some lovely trees. A nice little coffee shop, too. Gillyfish
I want to comment on something I saw a couple of pages back when the DA were being compared to the Black Templars and knightly orders. Whilst both echo medieval warriors and orders, the Templars imagery is drawn from the early to high medieval period (most obviously the Knights Templar) when bucket and helms chainmail and surcoats were typical whereas the DA in the latest codex have been distinguished by more late period medieval armour (check out some of the ridges on the Black Knight helms which echo late medieval gothic armour) and weapons like cavalry hammers which were designed to punch through plate or inflict blunt force trauma. I agree that the line between robes and tabards on the models has become blurred (and rule of cool is probably the reason why) but I can certainly see a differentiation there in the imagery used. crimsonsphinx
I feel that we do have a number of fairly useless units and items. Not just useless in game terms, but random in terms of relevance. I for one don't understand where our shiploads of grav weapons, storm talons, storm ravens, centurions etc have all gone? Surely as 15% of all marine chapters are dark angels successors, this oversight is a bit ridiculous? There is no explanation given for these things to be missing entirely. Sure we have different aircraft, however if we hadn't found the Lion engine, we would have no aircraft at all. How stupid is this? A couple of our dodgy units could be fixed quite easily with minor changes. The Landspeeder Vengeance is a cool idea, executed terribly. If it was 11/11/10 or even 11/10/10 it would be usable. As it is, it is ridiculously expensive for what it is. Either that, or drop its points to about 90. I would like to see the Nephalim have either proper s8 missiles like everyone else seems to get, or have the avenger bolt cannon upgraded to the same as on Fire raptor gunships. The Dark Talon has a great sounding gun and bomb, but in reality it fails to match up to what it is supposed to do. Our relics may just about be the worst in the game. I can't say I have seen a worse set. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299285-da-identity-in-the-new-codex/page/6/#findComment-3872680 Share on other sites
Prot
You know the frustrating thing for me is that I see with Nids that GW are giving slight re-vamps to existing units. The release of the DV Dark Angel Expansion set would have been a fantastic way to do that, especially since the Darktlaon/Nephilim are in that set! We know GW are more sales driven than ever before, and the simple truth is by including a double sided rules card in that box set which would include rules 'tweaks' would have probably sold just as many boxes as the discount would have! I should talk though, as I almost bought the box and probably still will! <-- sucker.
