creating my orders fluff

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

As you may well know the sisters are my favourite faction. If gw did plastic sisters I'd get an army in a heartbeat. I'm currently waiting for plastic sisters and using the time coming up with fluff for my own order.

Got a few questions:

1 is there going to be a physical copy of the codex?

2 does the digital codex work on tablets? How do I buy it etc. Not up on tablets etc I'm afraid!

3 rough numbers of a sisters order? I'm thinking five preferably ten thousand sisters? That sound about right?

4 a minor order would be based from one of the main orders. Is that right?

5 I'm a rubbish painter. I prefer gaming. My order will have a very simple scheme.

Rough ideas.

I like lots of troops(stems from my days playing Orks. Small armies do not make me feel confident!).

Basic theme is my order specialise in armoured assaults. Blitzkrieg tactics. Lots of rhinos. Lots of exorcists. Lots of sisters squads.

Name use I'm thinking the order of the iron rose? Order of the iron heart? Something like that.

Paint scheme will be metallic armour. Black detailing.

Any thoughts so far? I'm going to throw my ideas into this thread and see what you guys and gals think.

Thank you.

1. if it is coming there are no rumours on such at the present time.  Having said that, it is very easy to convert one of the .epub/.mobi files into PDF, and print them out for your own hardcover.  Black Library allow you to do this for your own use (just don't distribute it, obviously) and so you can legally use it in Games Workshop stores and events should you wish.

2. Depending on which type you buy.  The ibook version is specially optimized to work on ipad's and contains a bunch of useful features the others don't, however it is more expensive and also means you need to take along your tablet to every game.  The .epub and .mobi formats are basically like websites you can view on your phone, computer, tablet, or anything else you have that can download the reader software (there are plenty of free e-reader programs you can use).  It's harder to use conveniently but more versatile and the only choice for those of us who don't get on with Apple :p

3. I Can't seem to find the exact quote now, but I believe the latest numbers given put the Sisters to around 300,000 members, total.  That includes the none Militant Orders and so the average Order size is likely to be similar or slightly more in number to a Space Marine chapter.

4. Often times yes, as they are split from the order should a particular mission or posting take them away from the parent order; yet sometimes new orders are made purely for these reasons.

5. Sounds like a good idea to me!

Along with the Iron name schemes have you considered Steel?  :)

Welcome to the Ecclesiarchy!

Thank you for your reply.

I'm thinking order of the iron heart. View emotion as a weakness that clouds judgement. Specialise in armoured assaults. Metallic armour. Black detailing.

Or possibly order of the iron rose? Humanitarian. Caring. Realise the galaxy is a cruel place so must be like iron. Compassion towards enemies is a weakness that they can I'll afford to have. When on battlefield are merciless. When not fighting are often performing humanitarian duties.

Descended from the order of the argent shroud.

Any thoughts so far?

1) No. Not until the new 'dex, if then.

2) Go to Black Library's website. Find the codex. Click "Buy." Profit.

3) I don't believe that there is a hard and fast rule about how big an Order is. There are bigger Orders and smaller Orders.

4) We were just talking about that over on my thread, where I'm doing the same thing for my Sisters. The answer is "yes, often, but not always," and also that the degree to which an Order's descent has anything to do with its character varies wildly.

5) Sounds like a neat theme to me. Your Order's "specialty" sounds like a summary of how the Sisters of Battle play, so it's kind of a non-specialty. I like the Order of the Iron Rose, but Iron Heart works as well.
