To Tabard or not to Tabard

Recommended Posts

That is indeed the question. Looking at starting a new SM Codex Army of a new DIY Chapter. Anyway the Chapter is of Corax's Geneseed but I am going with a more Black Knight kinda approach in terms of fluff. There colour scheme is below but my question is from a purely painting/modelling standpoint should I go full Knight in terms of accessories or I should I just splash the occasional bit it. The reason for my debate is with Tabards et al will they look too much like Templar, without will they look too much like Raven Guard... As it stands I intend on mainly Sarges/veterans with Tabards and maybe tilt shields with the occasional knight like helmet spread through out.

## Note that the grey areas are metallic. ##

So any thoughts from my esteemed colleagues?

Oh and sorry Mods if this is the wrong area but I was thinking along the lines of modelling style over fluff.

I'd say the silver bits should distinguish them fairly clearly from BT/RG on 'standard' Marines.

Tabards I'd agree just on Sgts/Vets, just don't use red as a spot colour as that combined with the black might make them look Templar-ish?

What colour cloth were you thinking for the tabards? White seems obvious but again it might look Templar-y. Perhaps a strong colour like blue or green would contrast nicely against the black and the silver?
