PastelAvenger Posted November 23, 2014 Share Posted November 23, 2014 I've always been interested in the Horus Heresy and I've read quite a few of the books and thought I would take the plunge into 30k, I have a few friends that dabble which is kind of my motivation here as well. I'm looking at starting off with a Zone Mortalis force and thought Alpha Legion would fit this perfectly (also there fluff is freaking cool) I'm just hoping I can get some feedback on what I hope to be purchasing in the not too distant future. I know one of my opponents will field a Contemptor but I was thinking that the plasma squad/ Sabotauge! could deal with that. Or I could just ignore it as it won't get down every corridor. Millicant Posted November 29, 2014 Share Posted November 29, 2014 Honestly, I'd say that you're a bit over-invested in tactical marines. Keep in mind that the Force Org for Zone Mortalis is different, and typically you require one troops choice at most. That's a lot of points that could be spent on a dreadnought, or other more deadly things. I might go for a single 15-man squad or just drop the second entirely. That said, I'd also ditch the plasma for flamers (gaining shred is too good to pass up) and I would seek out something more high-strength to deal with enemy dreadnoughts or tough characters/creatures. Maybe a rapier, or a dreadnought of your own? Terminators are also great. Lastly, the power knife is sort of a waste. As a specialist weapon, you'd be better off with a regular power weapon to gain the +1 attack from two close-combat weapons. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
PastelAvenger Posted November 30, 2014 Author Share Posted November 30, 2014 I was toying with taking a Contemptor but with everything else being able to infiltrate ( I assume I can still do this) I thought it might get left behind a bit. I will definitely make the changes you have suggested to my purchases based on this, the power knife was just a spare 5pts I had left I do realise they should only be taken with another specialist weapon.
