Pffft, just paint the Assassin, tbh I don't think any of us know exactly where this is going. You don't even have to paint it well, Rogue Trader stuff looked bad compared to the Fantasy stuff from the same era.

Funny that I have an old RT assassin painted (just not where I live)

Ok so here we have the Tactical, Assault and Devastator Squads as Listed in The Compendium. 

 


Tactical Squad 

Basic Equipment: Knife, Bolt Pistol, Frag Grenades

Standard Equipment: Sgt - Boltgun, 7 Marines - Boltgun, 1 Marine - Flamer, 1 Marine - Missile Launcher

Optional upgrades:

Substitute Flamer with, Grav Gun, Melta, Plasma, Shuriken Catapult.

Substitute Missile Launcher with: Conversion Beamer, Heavy Plasma Gun (Cannon), Las-Cannon, Multi Melta.

Equip Sgt with Additional: Chainsword, Power Axe Glove or Fist, Web Gun, Assorted Grenades. 

 


Assault Squad 

Basic Equipment: Knife, Bolt Pistol, Frag, Blind, Crack Grenades

Standard Equipment: Sgt - Chainsword, 7 Marines - Additional Bolt Pistol, 1 Marine -  Hand Flamer, 1 Marine - Plasma Pistol

Optional upgrades:

Substitute Hand Flamer with, Plasma Pistol, Power Axe or Sword, Web Gun

Substitute Plasma Pistol with, Power Axe or Sword.

Equip Sgt with Aditional: Power Axe Glove or Fist, Assorted Grenades. 

Equip all Squads with: Jump Packs, Chainswords, Power Shields, Asorted Grenades

 

Devastator Squad 

Basic Equipment: Knife, Bolt Pistol, Frag Grenades

Standard Equipment: Sgt - Boltgun, 5 Marines - Boltgun,  2 Marines - Missile Launchers, 2 Marines - Heavy Bolters

Optional upgrades:

Substitute one or both Missile launchers with: Conversion Beamer, Heavy Plasma Gun (Cannon)

Substitute one or both Heavy Bolters with: Las-Cannon, Multi Melta.

Equip Sgt with Additional:  Power Axe Glove or Fist, Web Gun, Assorted Grenades. 

 

Missile Launchers also had access to Various Missile types, none exist really in current 40k so I didn't list them. the only things we don't really have now as squad based weapon options are Shuriken Cannons and Conversion Beamers. Also Tact and Dev squads had access to Jump Packs as well o.O again not listed as they are no longer an option in current dex. 

 

Everything else seems like an easy swap over to C:SM, I think we should keep the hand flamer option as well as its TECHNICALLY allowed ('C:BA' and Assault Sqads can take Flamers in C:SM) and shouldn't really cause too much of a headache.

 

Just downloaded the WD mag with the original Scout rules so I'll have a read of that in a bit.

In the middle of negotiations with my mate for RTB01 beakies, considering we have been mates since 1996 he is really stubborn with the price -.- do I really need sixty of them though?
of course you do!

 

So, I really feel this should not be a challenge. I want a relaxed community project that's all about reviving the glory days. If only for a minute or two.

 

As I see it, there will be several levels of commitment to this:

 

1. The purists that will onlyou use minis and lists from the era.............awesome!

2. The hardcore, they will convert and kitbash, and scratch build what they need........awesome!

3. The ones who will do it, but use what they have (ie. mk7, etc.)..................awesome!

4. The ones who will create cool RT inspired art and fluff................awesome!

5. And then there will be the ones who's only contribution will be comments/critiques.....awesome!

 

Are you seeing a theme here? I would prefer no pervasive " part of the ship" stuff.

 

BUT, I wold like to ask someone to create an awesome "rogue trader hipsters" club banner. That would be sweet. I would do it but have no computer Kung fu. Something incorporating the weapon badges or old school screen distortion or kill kill kill, whatever just make some and will put it to vote.

 

I will be less involved as I have no access to the hobby atm. Unless someone has stuff they don'the want.........

3. Thats why I am modelling my Blood Angels to be posed and painted as close to the Studios army as I can, not gonna be happy when I order the Mk6 Devastator squad and Mk1 Rhino from FW, could use old ones but then everything will be outta scale.

Mod or Admin question 1. Would sharing the templates for the Mk1 Rhino and Landraider be allowed by uploading them here? Or would that breach copyright of a mini GW no longer produce?

I think it might be better to err on the side of caution and not post the templates. GW might not make the original vehicles, but as far as I know, they still have copyright.

I think this topic might be better off over in WIP soon, but I'm on a mobile device and it's a bit tricky to move it using it. If it hasn't been moved by the time I'm back on my laptop tomorrow, I'll do it then smile.png

When I can afford to buy stuff again, I'll probably be a mix of one and two. I'll use the RT stuff when I can and flesh it out wit FW stuff. Scale be damned, it not like GW cares about scale.

 

I'l have to stick with drawing for now.

1. Pretty sure that's a breach of IP. And don't forget FW have made versions now too.

Templates definitely violate the B&C's rules.

 

As for which basket I fit in? I'll be using FW's mkVI's to do the 1st Legion, which could double as Consecrators in a pinch. I'll be participating in a model by model capacity. I'll have a look into a banner/pip tomorrow.

I found these when moving stuff in the loft, promptly stripped and repainted.
