This is rather basic stuff.

Person A; Hey guys, here's an elites slot option

Collective Rules Team Minus Person A, Called hereafter, B; Ok, Cool, what does it do?

A; It's Dreadnoughts, but allow 1-3 per elites slot

B; Awesome. But are they a Squadron?

A; Ohnononono, this is the best bit, they are all independent units!

B; Sweet.

A; But here's best  bit!

B; Oh?

A; They have to deploy within 6"?

B; Why?

A; Who cares? They just do.

B; Sweet. I love that reasoning. Awesome let's do it.

A; Ye

B; Ye

A; Ye

B; Ye, *Brofist*

A; Ye

B; We done this

A; Ye

B *Brofists again*

A; Ye

B; Dude, FS, what are you doing

A; Ye

B; *Shrugs, Brofists anyway*

A; Ye

B; ...

A; Ye

A; Ye

A; Ye

B; Are you broken

Person at the back, called C; But what about Reserves?

A; Oh yeah. Urm, they must come on within 6" of each other.

B; Okay

C; But...

B *Interjects* Shut Up, C

C; But statistically

B; C, do you want this job or not

C; Yes

B; The shut UP!

C; Okay, will do. But what about if someone fails a reserves roll?

B; C, you're fired.

A; Ye

Pretty much how that design choice went down.

This is how I have read it as well. Deploy together as one unit with initial 6" coherency, then move and act independently. Which would force them to Reserve / pod on a single roll together and indicate pod points within 6" of another pod of the batch.

Okay, cool, but how does that work with multiple pods then?  Do you count drop pod assault as normal, and then as long as one of the dreadnought pods is selected in the first wave, the other one (or two) get to come along?  That can be interesting in a typical 5-pod list, because drop pod assault gives you the first 3, and then the talon would bring the other two along, for a full 5-pod drop turn one?  Seems legit. :)

++Agree to disagree and let's ease on past this dreadnought reserves issue. Please and thanks++

Yes, people, please refrain from discussing rules in a rules subforum, you philistines!
