For the Glory of Terra

They say there is no greater honour then to die for your planet, in front of they eyes of your ancestors. So it's a good job that WE are their ancestors, and there is not an honourable man amongst us, 'cos the ones who are going to die today are this poor bastards on that hole of a planet. In the name of Terra, kill them all

Unknown Strategos of the 1985th Solar Auxiliar Cohort

Hey guys and gals, haven't posted in a few weeks. Basically been going through one of those life tough times, which has seen my mrs become an ex, and her and my daughter move a bit further away then I would like, dumping me with the sort of debt that needed me to sell ALL my models, painted, unpainted, converted, new in box (my 25th anniversary model I never got round to building!!!). Well I say all my models....

So 2015 is going to be my pick up year, aut viam inveniam aut faciam is my new motto, a new man, or a return to a younger man, something anyway. To start, building what I have left. Above is the slow progress, I feel I should really have kept the instructions. Promised Christmas cash has been totalled, and I plan up add 2 more las rifles sections, 1 storm, 1 Flamer, and that funky Volkite Russ so I can finally paint a tank. I also have some Mechanicum stuff left, and a few terminator legs to continue my art scaling experiments, legion to be decided, I was going to do World Eaters but Crimson Sons....

Anyway, paint scheme suggestions welcome.

For the Glory of Terra my friends.

Cool start smile.png. Do you want to do traitors or loyalists? There are some awesome artworks/SA-colour-references in Conquest smile.png

legion to be decided, I was going to do World Eaters but Crimson Sons....

Crimson Sons with a Rogue Traider and some SA in Crimson Sons colours would be awesome!

Either way, keep it up Daemon!

Thanks guys, I looked at Conquest schemes but nothing has jumped out at me yet. I'm up to 15 men built in my first las section. I realised I read the rules wrong, so am dropping the 2nd las section off my future order. That means my first Tercio will be 2xlas 1xflammer and my second Tercio will be 3x Storm (2xVolkites 1xrotor cannons (rule of cool) ). Currently building a Legate Commander who will be demoted to a Command Section Strategos when I settle on a look for a Lord Marshel.

Went through similar almost 8 years ago and I promise you it gets easier and much better.

Now with the person I should have always been with we have two amazing daughters.

Besides, we have this fantastic hobby community behind us all, like minded people sharing their ideas and efforts who are always here to help.

All this Solar Auxilia talk... Gonna have to get some arent I.

Sorry to hear about your problems, can't really imagine what it's like. I hope you feel better and things get sorted soon.

I don't know what to suggest colour wise, I'm not very good with colours (can hardly see some of them!). I'll have to get Conquest so I can check out some of the schemes in there.

Cheers guys, it is getting better, every day. And kind of happy I have less models, no big piles of guilt, just a few bags of bits, my tools, and my now endless attention.

So SA are being built, future plans locked. Mechanicum are almost built from before, pics in a few days.

That leaves the art scale Legion. Crimson Sons would be cool, feeding off BCK and a fella over on warseer, both of whom have managed to make Night Lord-lite models that are still recognisably Night Lords. My other thinking is Thousand Sons. Why, well they are awesome, but have the potential to be complicated in a rules sense that may effect the models I build. But do I care about rules that much. Not sure. The conversion potential for both is fantastic, plus I have always loved the magic underdogs (guess what class I play in Dragon Age), but not a fan of red (Never Red was a slogan my sports team used for a while, while having a sponsor slogan in red, silly Tottenham) but I could go deep red, and gold, Roma style. My captain could be Totti. Current outsiders, Imperial Fist, especially if Poulx is big big. Thoughts?

Huh, I didn't realise you lived in England til you mentioned Tottenham there haha. We'll have to have a game one day.

Of the three, my favourite would be Crimson Sons, because I love me some Night Lords, even the squeamisher ones. I'm not over keen on the other two, but I'd maybe wait to see what goodies TS get before I personally did them. But that's probably quite a wait...

As you can tell, I'm no help at all.

Did I see Imperial Fists?!?!

You know where I stand now :P

Seriously though: having a bunch of Mortals who were permanently assigned to a group of Night Lords and detail how their Methodologies and Culture started to / has affected them could be quite interesting.

Solar Auxilia dudes painted in a Deep Midnight blue on the Armor Plates with a deep blood red for the Cloth might look quite nice, actually. You could also add some skull trophies, flayed skin Kamas (google it its from Star Wars Clone Troopers), bone necklaces could help with individualizing the models themselves to break up the monotony of the rather limited poses they come in. Especially if you have multiple of the same Section.

Imperial Fists Followers wouldn't lend itself to that much creativity, imo, due to how Spartan they are with their bling. Pollux and the Contemptor are good examples, recognizably Imperial Fists but not drowned in Bling and Heraldry like the Alpha Legion Contemptor, Palatine Blades, Fire Drakes, etc. But you could probably do something cool if you put your mind to it. It just wont be as flashy as the above.

Cheers guys.

Got to say I am very tempted by the 1kSons, but I think I'm going to hold off a few years until Prospero hits. I think working without upgrade kits will annoy me.

So I'm going with the outsiders, Imperial Fists. I have some ideas, a small garrison force, breachers, support marines, other stuff.

Yeah, I think they will be popular, in fact throw in the Space Pups, I think forge World will have a very profitable year when that comes out!

Ok, so Imperial Fist are set. I once wrote a breacher heavy list, only 1000 points, will be a good place to start I think, very thematic.

So just ordered, 1xLas section, 1xFlamer section, 2xStorm section, 1xRuss Incinerator, 1xImperial Fist upgrade, 1xImperial Fist heads.

Wont arrive for a few week, gives me time to get the scheme down.

There was a time when I was interested in every force in the Prospero books. I'm very interested to see what FW do with the Space Wolves. I hope they keep the darker feel like in Prospero Burns and don't follow GWs descent into silliness with the SW.

But yeah, good choice. The Imperial Fists are really growing on me lately. And I love the Solar Auxilia.

Happy Christmas everyone. In the end I was far to hungover to even look at a paintbrush. Made amends today. Not with painting, it's far to cold to consider spraying models, but I have built a test model for the Imperial Fist. Meet Brother Tester

I am awaiting some 30mm bases which I think it will be a better fit. I may also add some plasticard to the feet. Here he amongst the brave men of the Solar Auxilia

Cheers dude, i think the scale is about right. His legs are bent, but I think he would be about 7ft if the SA are around 6ft.

This guy was going to be a Legate Commander, with the aim to demote him to Strategos, but I think he will better served as my Troop Master.

Dang.....eek.gif

BCK, i am surprised you haven't tried to sculpt your own over the top of Cadians!

LOL! No, no. I appreciate the compliment, but I don't think my sculpting skills would be up to something like that, and given how slow I work, I would never get an army this big finished.

A one off, though? :D

I think it's time to start a petition. BCK to sculpt Solar Auxilia.

So, paint left pallet and landed on models tonight. My first attempt at the SA was horrible, second attempt is promising, but decided to slow down as I have horrible lighting in my room.

Also it took 2 coats of yellow for me to realise I hate the Imperial Fists. Why, oh why would such a cool Legion go around in yellow. What idiot thought that was a good idea. I hope the chaos gods eternally feast on his soul.

In annoyance I slapped some Kantor blue on the marine, and messed around with mixes of The Fang and Thunderhawk blue, with black washes, and blue glazes. I feel this has more potential. Oh, and bleeding eyes. Love me some bleeding eyes! I would show pictures, but poor lighting and a dark paint job equals crap pictures.

Also what is it with a ll these username changes. I feel like you all have some amazing name creation thing going on!
