SW1
That Ironlady is looking mighty pretty. Might have to take her off your arm for a dance ! Your effort really is applaudable ! Your armour is most certainly going to shine this ETL! Well, actually, it should be real muddy. The muddier the better. I'll be joining you with plenty of grunts. By the time this ETL is done I want to have a painted army I can actually game with. You'll notice I didn't say completed as this is the guard and an army is never finished!!! :) Nonsense Meh, the commissariat always takes the first dance :PJust watch out she doesn't tread on you toes. Lol ... You might be safer giving one of her sisters a spin instead. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301374-dragging-the-guard-back-out-ogryn-chop-shop-pg-13/page/8/#findComment-4003263 Share on other sites
SW1
Urgh ... Got water into the bath of dettol my grunts are in. The paint in the bottom of the container has set with the models in it. :( Not sure trying to clean up 100+ models in one go was such a bright idea now. In other news 25% off the new Ogryn box at the local hobby store. Don't mind if I do. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301374-dragging-the-guard-back-out-ogryn-chop-shop-pg-13/page/8/#findComment-4005460 Share on other sites

SW1
To sort out the stripping messed up I've ended up with several containers without lids full of dettol with models in different states of gunkiness. There's also a single tub with a reasonable amount of stripped models having their final dip to make sure everything is definitely paint free. The only reason I've dared to do this is the kids have been shipped off to grandparents overnight. So everything needs to be back in sealed containers by tomorrow night!!!! SW1
Clawing back the mess ... Just a few of the tubs on the go. ;) http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsd3zo2sy1.jpg Ran out of disposable gloves but found an old more heavy duty one to work with. http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsclvh6xxf.jpg Got to this point before the glove ripped: http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsdu8xecw8.jpg There's a fair few models done this evening. They'll get another dip but in clean dettol to remove any final paint residue and then get a good old scrubbing with dish soap. SW1
If it makes it easier I'll take the steel legion guys off your hands. Just kidding. Lol ... Many a truth is said in jest. I'll have a look what I've got once I've got through stripping the lot and we can see of an arrangement. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301374-dragging-the-guard-back-out-ogryn-chop-shop-pg-13/page/8/#findComment-4006410 Share on other sites
SW1
Well the first lot completely cleaned can be seen below: http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps6jbnfivh.jpg As you can see there's a big mishmash of models currently. The only models I could really pledge for the ETL straight away is Yarrick, a primaris psyker, 2 commissars and a priest. Everything else is missing bits or incomplete squads. Lol ... There's even a big pile of headless Ogryns. SW1
I'm thinking of using this model as a plasma toting servitor (more like an apprentice than a lobotomised grunt) with the addition of a few pipes and other bits. I think there's a few of him which would look cool. Any thoughts on using less Borg looking servitors? http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpshbz3cgkx.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301374-dragging-the-guard-back-out-ogryn-chop-shop-pg-13/page/8/#findComment-4007048 Share on other sites
Father Mehman
I think he would be a great Servitor stand-in! Some of these models with shotguns look quite amazing and I'm sorry I missed them. You're one lucky guy ! To your point, I think Servitors are just going to have a Borg look to them based on what they are. Personally, if they made them more skeletal and/or reinforced that would be nice. steellegionnaire85
I think we can work through this together. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301374-dragging-the-guard-back-out-ogryn-chop-shop-pg-13/page/8/#findComment-4007432 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
You could easily have more technically advances servitors that look more human, very easy to justify :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301374-dragging-the-guard-back-out-ogryn-chop-shop-pg-13/page/8/#findComment-4007580 Share on other sites
SW1
Cheers for the feedback. Maybe a head swap might help with the look. So something less bearded maybe? Need to blitz the clean up so I can start the prep on mass. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301374-dragging-the-guard-back-out-ogryn-chop-shop-pg-13/page/8/#findComment-4007594 Share on other sites
SW1
Spent 3 hours scrubbing models and now have another batch ready to give a final wash too. There seemed to be most if not all the missing Ogryn heads and lots of heavy weapons. Will do a sort out post washing them as long as it doesn't get too late. Finally getting around to visiting the gaming centre near work tomorrow or is that later today now? For an airbrush suitable undercoat and paints. Will have all the kids in tow so won't be able to stay for ages and enjoy the attached bar. But maybe next time the kids won't be on a school holiday. SW1
Finally got them scrubbed with soap and rinsed off. Bit too knackered to get them sorted fully tonight. WarriorFish
Are you scrubbing models in your dreams yet? SW1
Are you scrubbing models in your dreams yet? Keep on soldiering and remember to think of the glory that awaits you once you've repainted them all :tu: Lol ... Not quite. I'm enjoying finally seeing some results. Thankfully I started this well before the ETL starts otherwise the first month would be scrubbing. I can get more painted in the full three months rather than two months. ;) I'm also realising there's a box of models missing. It's got over half the commissars in it, as well as old iron hand Straken, the female Catachan grenade launchers, Mad Donna Ulanti, Marbo, and a few other classic models. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301374-dragging-the-guard-back-out-ogryn-chop-shop-pg-13/page/8/#findComment-4009989 Share on other sites
SW1
As I get units/squads stripped and prepped I'll get pics taken and post them up. :) Commissar Yarrick - 145 points http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsxpmcaccp.jpg 3x Primaris Psykers - 150 points I'll be converting one of the duplicate models so the look a bit different. http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsmwpovabs.jpg 3x Commissars (2x power swords, plasma pistol) - 120 points http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpskxqr4kej.jpg 10x Wyrdvane Psykers - 120 points http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsmqb3tbll.jpg 10x Ratlings - 100 points http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpssqf0ijs0.jpg So that's a total of 635 points spread over 27 models. SW1
This little lot is the rest of the currently stripped stuff. http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/SW1-SWC/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpswx5qn3lj.jpg There's about the same amount again needing to be finished stripping. Shouldn't be too hard work though as most have already had the first scrub in dettol and currently having an additional soak so I can get the last of the paint off. :D There's a good chunk of points in the Ogryns and heavy/special weapon squads. But the rest is grunts worth minimal points. Once this lot is sorted I'll get back to tank scrubbing. I think I could probably do with a little more cleaning of the Stormlords tracks as I've found that there's some sticky gunk I missed from the previous paint jobs. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301374-dragging-the-guard-back-out-ogryn-chop-shop-pg-13/page/8/#findComment-4010141 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
The Metro... best use of it I've ever seen :P Can't wait for them to get some paint on, we're seeing far too much bare metal here... SW1
Well the painting got a lot closer today. Got my backside to the physical store of element games with all three kids in tow 7, 4 and an under one in a pushchair. Not taking a pushchair again it's on the first floor and the stairs has a nice 90 deg turn half way up. The eldest two ran riot and then spotted the starwars stuff. Then ran around even more having space battles. :D I did manage to get hold of some white and black primer, paint thinner, 2 greys, a metallic black and bolt gun metal equivalent. I also got some tips on airbrushing. Well worth a visit but not with several young kids in tow!!! http://elementgames.co.uk/store-information Edit: Lol ... You're right about the metro. It's rather absorbent which makes it useful for drying off washed stuff and also stopping glass topped tables from scratches. Not sure about the quality of the writing. Just grabbed it for it's other qualities. SW1
Just got back in from our little fun day out. The wife has just veto'd any hobby related activities for the night. Lol ... WarriorFish
I find you can stop reading the Metro once you get to the middle. Or sooner... :P As long as your film is commissariat approved you may continue - but work begins again in earnest tomorrow!;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301374-dragging-the-guard-back-out-ogryn-chop-shop-pg-13/page/8/#findComment-4010575 Share on other sites
